p.s. If you are diving Dania, I would suggest parking at the NORTH end of the lot, you have to go out just north of the pier if lifegaurds are out (after 9am), if before, just go in just south of the pier, there are 3 reef systems, one is halfway between the pier and the south end of the lot, about as far out as johnson, it's small and broken up, the other one is about 1 1/4 pier lengths, this is the main one, the next is about 1 3/4 pier lengths, but is most accessible closer to the pier I believe.

The middle one is broken up reef, small ledges, etc... The furthest one is about a 6 foot ledge system.

From the South end of the lot, which I never dive, I'm not sure if it works the same way.

Darn it Debby, I just found out that I have to do some business first thing tomorrow (Saturday), morning. :(

I will try to hook up with you guys at about 11:30ish at the parking area to see if you are doing a 2nd tank.

Michael, if we get in the water by 8 we'll be back out by 10, 10:30 so try to hook up then; you could always try my cell and leave a message on it.

So, who is joining me? FastAttack and Gooch, are you confirmed?

The south end of the parking lot is easy access, it even has a sign that says "dive area". If you go out and head a bit south, line up with the vertical on the condo and head due east, there are some nice little holes on the back of the "first" rubble reef loaded with tropicals. There is a nice 5-6 foot ledge further out with some little rubble piles along the way.

Why does everyone do these early morning dives? Early afternoon has better light and its too hot to do anything else.

Now if this knee of mine ever gets better, I'll be out there.

Thanks Dennis, it sounds pretty; VR, it's all the same parking lot so I expect pretty much the same dive from the South end as from the North end. Dennis, when your knee is better, go ahead and post an afternoon dive and those who want to dive later in the day will be so happy to join you! If you want to dive with me, I like to get it done early in the day: better parking, less boat traffic, hopefully the bugs aren't as picked over, and then I have the rest of the day for other things. Hope that answered your question and I also hope your knee gets better, what a bummer!

scuba is great for your knee

<--- 2 knee surgeries lol

see you all tomorrow morning :)

Well, a couple of really nice dives today!! The vis wasn't great but it was definitely dive-able. For the first dive, VR24, FastAttack and I swam way out about 1-1/2 pier lengths. NO lobsters, not even a broken leg or antennae, but an extremely interesting area. We swam north for a ways and saw many interesting formations, mini-ledges, and sea life. I can't wait to see VR's video of the "sea snake". Fast had a gear mishap or two, but I'll let him tell the story! On the way back in we saw a really pretty inshore reef but didn't spend any time there because my master meter ticket was about to run out! Got back JUST in time.

Second dive was with Sperbonzo and his new weight-integrated BC and big steel tank. The new gear worked out really well for him. We swam way back out to the same area and this time headed mostly South. Another gorgeous dive with lots to see including many angelfish. A very large school of not-very-large spadefish came by and many of them rubbed their faces on my new pearl pink Tusa Tri-Ex fins, the same way a cat would rub its face on your ankle. I sat in the sand and watched this action for a while, wishing VR and his video camera were there for the second dive. Finally, saw one lobster and I guess he was whupped from so many divers chasing him because he allowed me to bag him without a struggle. We hoped to find that little inshore reef again on the way back in, but we missed it.

I went to visit my buddy, the captain of the city's lifeguards, and he told me the spadefish are in heat right now and that the pearl pink fins make them really "hot." What a kidder, eh? :)

I was surprised how many divers use this spot, we saw dozens of folks coming and going. I can't wait to do this one again, but next time I'll bring the camera instead of the lobster gear. It's a beautiful dive if you don't mind a loooooong swim.

Thanks to my three buddies for making my day!

By the way is anyone free Monday morning for a beach dive or two? My BF and I both took the day off but he's busy until about noon. I could be talked into diving rather than sleeping in...

Well, it'll be a day or two before the computer with the card reader is up and running, I'll upload the video then.

But overall a nice dive, next time we need to swim to the real ledge though, much nicer.
