hi, all,

will try to tell you as much as I know

> Be aware that Divecomputer.eu is a young company,

incorrect.
This all started as a L4Me spin-out project to make electronics for X-CCR. Then at some moment (after several attempts to pass CE tests) IQSub decided to replace electronics with one of the well-known ones ...
After that L4Me decided to make that electronics as a standalone product.
So physically it's a same company, or a few brand names under the same roof. Legally ? Yeahh, separate :)

About X-Deep - it's a different company, nothing to do with this product & company.

About service, etc
[ note: I'll have to talk a bit of off-topic, but you'll get the point ]

L4Me started making canister torches 7-8+ years ago. Then back-up torches, etc
Me and my buddy (UK, mine divers) own and heavily use their first revision of the canister torch. It works and it's great! Backups too, no issues.

However, number of other divers I know and dive with (in UK) had some issues with later revisions and different models of the canister torches (with connectors). And unfortunately for some of them servicing became a nightmare ... One had an issue with E/O cord - service-replacement rejected (read their T&C). One had torch flooded @ 50-ish meter dive (RCA model), had to throw it away. Another one had a bad connection (RSA as well) - after some arguments with distributor ... some other guy fixed it for him.
But many other divers use their torches, no issues ...

So, what's my point : if you are buying the cheaper product - you can be lucky or can be not, some sort of lottery. Want a good product and customer-friendly customer service - go for the pricey product. That's it, nothing to add

PS safe diving everyone ;-)

about the dive computer itself - I know only one diver (Polish lad who lives in UK) who owns it since a beginning of the year and loves it a lot.
But he dives only once per 5-6 weeks as far as I can see, hard to get some reliability statistics with this kind of number of dives ...

Hi there
Mine is on its way to me.
I will be diving each weekend , I dive long and deep (torpedo) nitrox , trimix and deco gases so we will see in some time how it works :)
My buddy have a new ostc 2 so we will see also how it perform side on side with other computers.

I will post some data for sure.
Good or bad

sounds fine :)

don't get me wrong - I'm not saying that it's good or bad. Simply due to large available options on the market L4Me (oops divecomputer.eu) had to start their marketing campaign by telling everyone - "look, all options you might ever need for a smaller price !!!".

also as far as I can see revision 2.0 of hardware is (or will be) available.

I do electronics design myself (nothing to do with diving) and any product company releases requires a lot of testing, checking and validation. And even after that there is a chance for a mistake ... Simply a lot of qualified and highly specialised staff. Small businesses can't afford this ... just can't.

What I will revive should be v2.0 of hardware.
Technical diving itself is quite small, so I don't think we have big companies here, my buddy have the ostc 2 and like they said there are millions of dives done with their software and he found bugs already so ...
We are never safe at 100%
No brand nothing at all.

simply look at the pic @ Sharewater web-site, ~ 50 employees ? :) Plus (quote) "certified ISO 9001-2015 compliant facility. Our products meet international standards as required by CE, FCC and IC". And product line(s) are ... dive computer related products only ...

The companies in Poland & Czech republic, etc (there are several of them in the diving industry) cover quite large variety of products - from dive torches to r/b-s. Plus not all of the products are fully certified [ note: it's not about divecomputer.eu, it's a situation in general ]. And how many employees do they have all together ? 50 ? or 70 ? :) Many of this eastern-Europe companies are : 1-2 guys do design, 2-5 manufacturing and assembly, 1-2 service/repairs/customer_service, 2-3 sales and marketing. I hope you got what I mean, thank you ...

But of course, without the new fish those north-american companies would have a monopoly and prices would be higher than an iphone :)

Heinrich & Weikamp is just as good as Sharewater, even if they are not American
(by the way a lot of our gear is manufactured in cheaper countrys, taiwan philipines and many more)
I use a lot of gear from scubapro mk25 to tecline r2 they all work less or more the same way.
Divesoft have quite good computers and HE analyzers, not american they are from prague..

ISO and other certificates are many times just a question of cash
About divecomputer, can be a good pick or not.
But for me its worth the try, i also wear a non mainstream seaskin drysuit
and some other stuff, it just works sometimes for the half the price.

if you search for bad reviews, you find them for almost every brand

can't say anything about H&W.

divesoft - I use their divecomp as a bottom timer every dive. I like it. Last year one of buttons got stuck, out of warranty period - sent it to Czech republic, 20 euros+postage. They said that it was repaired, but actually they gave me a brand new unit with the same serial number :)

about certification :

From one side : it's not just a matter of cash. as an example, X-CCR (iqsub) is struggling to pass tests 100 % for last several years ...

From another side the certification guarantees ... nothing - example divesoft libery ccr - how many causalities already, 4 or 5 ?

ok, guys, discussion is in some sort of indefinite loop :) If you like some particular gear - go for it, all the best, and have a good dive!
