Why would that happen?
I just bought an Aqualung Legend a couple months ago. It comes standard with a braided hose. Don't know who the manufacturer is for the hose, but I wonder how this will hold up...
Miflex, with AQL specific quality control above standard. AQL recomend buying the flex hose from them for that reason.

Aside from UV radiation some plastics are sensitive to alkali or acid. Why would that happen?

it could be marketing, but it is not unusual for a maker, asking for more specifics controls or a different type of material, coating, finishing etc...It does not mean, Miflex sell lower quality to us, and higher to AQL.
Apeks ( AQL group) sell some regulators with Miflex hoses, marking AFX, and because of EN250,it is 1 stage, 2 nd stage + hose all together, not for separate, so, normaly, for maintenance, replacement parts, they (repair staff diving shop) have to fit the same hose as described on the document, if rubber, rubber, if flex ,same flex. (maybe AQL can give more information on this board )
p.s: sorry for my english.
No need to apologize, you speak at least two languages which is one more than most. Your English is way better than my Spanish.
