I just ordered an H3 (in Europe). I wanted a computer suitable for recreational diving (to replace my dying 10 yr old Vyper), and with the possibility for Tec diving in the future.
After looking at many computers, in the end it was a match between the OSTC Sport (2/3 of the price but only Nitrox) and H3. The smaller form factor of the H3, the non-user replaceable parts/battery (less chance of flooding), the future option of AI (and GPS?), Apnea mode and the free upgrade to Trimix this month tipped it over in favor of the H3.
Of course I couldn't neglect the awesome reputation of Shearwater, but the size factor just didn't work for me as an active recreational dive instructor.
However, as an active dive instructor doing approx 500 dives a year, I do also wonder about any battery replacement program if the battery wears out in 3 years or so? In this case the non-user replaceable battery can also be a negative... Then again, I wasn't looking forward to changing a battery over every week or so on an OSTC/Petrel...
For those interested, I made a little sheet and with some of the features of my favorites.
