ugghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my legs are SOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

seriously sore!!!!!!!!!

going to be lazy and do nothing today but plan on eating well

Does playing tennis on the wii count as exercise? For reasons I can't state here, I can't really get out for a walk and I don't have the privacy to do aerobics or anything. So, jumping around after that virtual ball for an hour has got to count for at least 20 minutes of cardo, right? I mean, my right arm is sore...

Guess since I'm one of the few, some days the only, guys in the Spin Class I guess I can empathize with you girls. The classes are 45minutes except on Saturday when we get the "benefit" of an extra 15minutes.

I walk out of the class with rubber band legs and by the next morning I'm S&S. Stiff and Sore. But, a few minutes in class and I'm back on it again.

I've found the trick, if there is a trick, is to not laze back. Instead just crank the effort back a notch and do it again. Then back up two notches and go, go, go.

Oh yes, in the past two weeks I've lost 5#, maintained the same weight lifting and doubled my cycle resistance. I'm absolutely pumped! BUT, I need to take care not to break the machine, eh?

Remember the old Marine saying: Pain is weakness leaving the body.;)

Awesome Artic! That's a great accomplishment. I have been wanting to try a spin class at some point.

As for me - home from the gym. 31 minutes on the treadmill - intensity 2-5 (fat burner intervals). 388 calories and 2.44 miles. Did some upper body weights afterwards.

Cute puppies Alcina. I wish the weather had been nicer here in San Francisco to get out and enjoy the beaches more.

Hey, I'll be there at the end of June and again at the end of July!! We should try to meet up :)

I would have to agree....I always seem to torture myself again the next day no matter how much I hurt...and those muscles really do stop hurting much faster.
PLUS...if you work through the sore feelings and fatigue, that's when you're really toning and building muscles.

Speaking of toning...was a little stiff and did an hour of weights and 30 min of cardio drills...which STILL kicks my butt after 6 months.

It took me awhile, but I finally got it through my head that the pain was from muscles being torn down. If I ever wanted to progress I had to eat protein and continue the exercise. Then the muscles regrow, only stronger and maybe bigger.

Since I bought into that I realize that for most of us we either don't push ourselves hard enough on a consistent basis, or we binge exercise and suffer between binges. It takes some grit to explore the regimes of The Burn and The Pain. But, the long term results are well worth it.

Oh yes, this success in Spinning is just the latest chapter in a multi-year effort to improve athletic ability improve cardiac function and reduce fat percentage. It has had its' ups and downs (especially loco moco on the Big Island) but I'm getting there and hope to reach my goal in about two months.

That's awesome! Sounds like you're doing an amazing job.
I've only recently come to very similar conclusions about breaking down muscle and rebuilding.
These days, no matter how much it hurts when I walk in the door at the gym, I always feel better, warmer, and more loose somewhere after an hour.

Like today! I did some major Lat work last night....YIKES was I stiff this morning! Went to the gym after work...didn't lift any weights, but did a cardio step class instead...and just the arm movements and stretches make it all relax out and work just enough to keep the new muscle fibers toned up.

Yep, although I don't post here very often I enjoy reading everyones' stories. They help reinforce what I need to do to conquer the Four Deadly Enemies Of Fitness. The four deadly enemies of improving fitness are Thinking You Are Alone; Not Pushing Yourself Hard Enough, Not Accepting That Fitness Is A Forever Lifestyle and Not Enough Quality Rest. Or, at least that is the way I think of it. Other people may have other ways of describing the enemy.

Almost everyone will do what they can do. I'd never rip anyone for what they are doing to improve fitness. I will share what I'm doing and what I've learned so other people can benefit and I hope they will share too so I can benefit.

Just home from the gym. 16 minutes on the ellitpical and 21 minutes on the treadmill. Not really interested in it today because of something that happened on the way to the gym, but went in just the same. Tomorrow diving. :D
