say, does anybody have a long-range forecast as to what the surf is gonna be in Venice on Saturday?
Seas 0-9' Bay and inland waters mild to a moderate chop :D

Unless there is a storm coming in this time of year, you can figure the surf is managable by my 18 yo. son. Surf at VB is almost a non-issue unless there is major wind involved. There are no major winds planned for the weekend

awesome, thank you

i was led to believe that visibility is directly proportional to surf

Surf, yes... wind direction over a period of time is even more important for Venice.

It is a very sensative area where vis is concerned. An afternoon storm that builds off the west and moves east in the afternoon can effect vis the next day. Always plan for 5-10' of vis... and follow people who know where they are going:D

That being said... you will extend your arm down and look down when you get there and be only 3' from the bottom where everything you want to see and grab is available!

The channels between the artificial reef will add to vis, and they generally run north-south... down one lane, up the next with plenty to see in the limerock if you are not seeing teeth.

Vis outside the reef may be 3-5' and inside the reef 8-10' across the span of the channel. When I haven't found teeth, I have found some VERY interesting sea life in low vis situations inside the reef... It will be cool... I promise! :cool2:

Adding to what CoolTech has said, every time we go there it is a blast, we find teeth, bones and other fossils, we see manatees, tarpon, and hordes of other life. People travel all over the Caribbean to see seahorses; got them right there in Venice.

sweet, sweet ...

did i mention sweet?

It really is cool, just keep your fingers away from the mantis shrimp, and from what I understand there is a bunch of life taking hold at the blocks of off S Brohard too.

I *think* that's it for now! See ya'll in a few days!

It's going to be hot, I'll bring apples and oranges on ice.

Wish I knew what that wind was going to do.
