Also...Some people might ask why the OP even gave it 4 chances. I can understand...

You go once and it was perfect. You go back and again and some things were off but man, that first time you went things are perfect. The OP was put in a less than desired room. OK, maybe it would not have taken me a whole day and losing a whole day of diving to pack and move rooms. You go back a 3rd time thinking it was just the room, everything else was fine. You go back wanting to give it another chance because it was bad luck with the crappy room last time. Well, this time it was a vehicle issue instead of a room issue. Crap happens, and things do happen. Maybe another fluke? Give it another chance....Return, and MAJOR truck issues and even tank issues now. Then there were the other things that maybe were permissible before (housekeeping, pool rules) but when coupled with the major issues, turns out to be a dealbreaker. Had the OP had no issues with truck and tank and had a blast out diving each day, maybe even so exhausted that they didn't have time to go to the pool or worry about needing extra towels, it may not have been such a dealbreaker. A perfect storm? Maybe, but still valid to the OP as that was their experience. I won't fault them for that.

I don't know. I thought it was a fairly well done review and the type that people do appreciate. It's hard to get out there and vent negative feelings about a place. He mentioned the restaurant is great so I do give it some credit. I stayed at Divi last time we went and won't do it again as I saw a guy at the blackjack table in the casino swipe 5 $25 chips from me. They reviewed the tape and allegedly saw nothing. Don't go in the casino btw if you stay at Divi Flamingo.

I haven't stayed at Buddy and probably won't mainly since in the future I'll be doing 2 bedroom remodeled condos with a kitchen. But reviews like this do matter to me as well.

Sorry, 4 chances is just too much. There are so many great places to stay, you should move up. I am very happy with where I stay,

I think I would have moved on after 2, probably 3, but then again I am not familiar with Bonaire and how many other options there really are relative to the same price point.

I voted on the kinda slanted poll. My take, I have stayed at Buddy Dive, and liked it. Had an issue with an oil light coming on and they changed the truck out when we got back. The only reason I moved to captain dons is that I love the flat two bedroom bungalows. I nearly killed my self getting up the buddy dive slick stairs.

They were helpful and receptive when you needed something.

All that being said, its a little on you for taking a truck that was a train wreck, I have refused one at avis and said I'll get better one tomorrow. Then just did shore dives off the resort until ready.

I would also never ever take off with a low tire. I take with me a air attachment that I can use with my BCD and tank to fill a tire.

You can always dive the house reef.

Buddy is a fine place, I always go there for dinner at least once or twice and if wasn't for their stairs of death, I would stay there again.

I have also found, and I have to remind my wife, how to you talk to service folks in Bonaire needs to be way different than the approach taken in the US. When an airline messes up my wife can get the moon, but that approach with folks in Bonaire, gets you a truck with a slow leaking tire.

This is what I meant by "attitude."

I know you are a great fan of Bonaire. What I don't know is whether or not you are a partner at Buddies or just a fanboy.

Seriously??? You have the gall to call someone else a fanboy? You, the biggest fanboy of Splash who hasn't ever answered my question - how recent is your experience? Bye ==> Ignore.

But the review on Tripadvisor says their first visit was perfect.

I think you could have helped yourself by explaining what you meant, when you originally typed your attitude comment. It came off like, they had a crappy attitude and that is why they had a bad experience. What you are saying is, there is a different way to deal with folks on Bonaire, when things don’t go as expected than how you do at other dive locations. How should they have dealt with their issues to get past them? Expand. Share your wisdom.
