Yeah why bother vising a tank, no need for that :)

Now, Al... *everybody* knows those failed because they were out of hydro, and no one here would dream of stamping a fake hydro date into the tank shoulder, now would they?!? :D

We had a tank fail recently that passed a hydro. If the crack is in the threads of the neck ring....good luck :)

$12, although a little high, seems reasonable and worth it and it should be considered standard procedure to have the tank returned to you "full". Any time a tank is completely emptied it is supposed to have a "new" Visual Inspection. Any shop that would VIP a tank and not fill it isn't doing things right.

$12 is on the high side for a vip+fill on Oahu. The cheapest IIRC is Breeze on Kapahulu at $7 each; usually it's between that and $10. But if you only have two tanks, is an extra $10 per year worth worrying about?
