@Badger7 That makes sense. I was thinking 48lbs vs 60lbs is a 20% difference but it's really closer to 248 vs 260 which is less than 5%.
Bingo. Take some time with a patient buddy or an instructor to work on your neutral bouyancy configration and trim weight placement first, probably some optimization to be had. Remember tank placement up or down on your back affects trim, try extremes in a pool sometime to feel head up versus head down trim.

Once you've got that squared away for the different tanks you commonly dive, then work on fine tuning your finning efficiency.
