    Operating Instructions

Bought a nearly new WP-DC90 case for my A620 and it did not come with instructions. I know they're probably dirt simple but I can't find a copy online at Canon USA or elsewhere. Anyone want to weigh in on how to keep my camera dry or where to find the user guide? =Terry

    Galapagos Fish Guide

I'd really like to find a single sheet, waterproof fish guide for the Galapgos or maybe South America Pacific. Closest I've got is for Costa Rica. Any ideas? =Terry

Galapagos add on - Been to the Ecuadorian Amazon?

There are many lodges in the Amazon but we're staying at the popular Sasha Lodge (http://www.sachalodge.com.ec/) after the Galapagos and a couple dives off a sailboat - nothing extraordinary, just the usual tour of islands. I'm also excited by the Manatee Explorer...

    S40 Underwater housing

I've just been looking at the Canon America site where they show the various cases vs. camera compatibility and I don't see the S40 there: S1, S60 and S70, but not the S40. Maybe an older case out of production on ebay? =Terry

Where to go in Central America?

If you're interested in back-of-the-beyond type diving (and not the Coco View/Fantasy Island preference) I'd recommend Corn Island in Nicaragua. Well worth a week. Another b-o-t-b place is Cayos Cochinos in the Bay Islands. Both these places require a teeny bit more work to get to, but once...

Budget hotels listed below: anyone have more info?

Bananarama in West Bay is cool. Individual cabinas with fans but there may be one with A/C by now... The German Scuba Instructor that was there in 2001 was just fine, but I thot the owners were coming back to run it. West Bay is a bit of a ways from West End where there are bars, shops, dive...

    Drake's Bay Costa Rica Diving

Thanks scuba65! We heard from Terrence on Utila that the diving out of Drake's Bay was great for pelagics, which if you get tired of reef fishies, would be a nice change, eh? If you or anyone have a specific recommendation about dive ops there, I'd sure be happy to hear them. We are...

    Drake's Bay Costa Rica Diving

Hi, Does anyone recommend a dive op in Drake's Bay? I think the diving goes mainly to Cano Island, but we kinda wanted a good dive op to try when we get there. Thx! =Terry

    Computers Suck

Here's one blogger's opinion of dive computers.... http://www.knowing.net/2004/03/27.aspx#a714 What do you think? =Terry

    Cuba

Third to Funky and TV - Maria la Gorda is simply the most beautiful water ever. Absolutely stunning blue on blue - fish and coral and terrain. Second Funky's assessment of their equipment - pretty raggy. I had a reg that free flowed and was shown by the DM how to bang it to get it to stop...

    Coz to Tikal

I'm not sure I'd pass up Uxmal, but bus to Palenque is several hours. Then overland bus to Flores and on to Tikal. I strongly recommend staying in Tikal National Park. Cannot overstate how wonderful it is to spend the dawn and dusk hours inside the park, surrounded by the jungle. Tikal is...

    Getting To Utila

You should be able to get to Utila in a day from the US and maybe you can get back in a day. Flying Houston (or probably Miami but have not done this) to San Pedro continuing on to La Ceiba to Utila. Think you can get a ticket for a connecting flight in San Pedro for Utila which may or may not...

    Ambergris Caye

What f**k was the DM doing?! Did you ever find out and tell the jerk not to alarm the clientel while diving? Some of those nitwits need their heads examined - power trippers who couldn't make the local police force, I guess. Sorry you had such a meager experience. =Terry

how to get to the Bay Islands?

I've been to the Bay Islands 3 times and always flown to SAP from Houston, then made arrangements on arriving in San Pedro for the continuing flight. There's a serious competition between Atlantida, Islena, Taca. Guys will come out to meet your incoming flight as you come thru customs touting...

What AOW courses did you find the most helpful?

I was under the impression that deep dive and navigation were required? I'd pick deep as something you'd definitely want to do in any event especially since you're going to be cert'ed to dive deep - better to find out how you'll react at depth than on your 1st deep dive in a group.

    Cold Water?

Anything under 80 degrees is cold. When you have to put on a full wetsuit it's cold. If you have to ask yourself, "Is this cold", it's cold. If you even think about shivering, it's cold. If there aren't palm trees on the beach and a mai-tai waiting in the bar, it's cold. If your first...

    curiosity about record depth

According to google search "Francisco "Pipin" Ferreras broke his own world record for "no-limits" free diving today, descending 170m (557') into Los Cabos Bay in Mexico on just one breath of air." I think this is with weights to go down and air bladder to ascend - just 2 minutes 40 seconds...

How do I improve my air consumption?

I like all of the ideas above and will add a couple of my own. One is base on a bit of paranoia about how DM's may try to get the dive over in a shorter amount of time. Some DM's are enthusiastic and are out to show you the best time possible. However... often going over a wall to 90+'...
