    Diving in Nova Scotia

Where are you heading/staying? If you are coming accross on the ferry, I'm assuming you'll land in Yarmouth. If so, I believe Torpedo Rays is the only shop in the area. If you are driving, you might check these guys out in Kentville, http://www.sandandseadiveshop.ca/divecharter.htm I'm...

    Malaga Cove

??? We gave you parking information. Just park on the street, just outside the marked parking lot spots. The street signs are visable and it only is a short walk to the top of the hill. We dive Malaga at night, especially during lobster season. Opening nite, there's always a large crowd...

    Wing Choice

Hi Chris, We are close to the same size, my primary backplate is a Hammerhead and I use an Oxycheq 30# Razor for my wing (80's, 95, 100, etc). The Agir 36# is also a very nice wing. I have one you could look at, but don't have a demo. If you feel like making the drive up to the Redondo Beach...

Video from the Eureka and Elly oil rigs from this past Sunday

Last week the temp was in the 50's around 80' and below. All the rigs are deep, the Eureka bottoms out somewhere around 350'. Here's another video shot by my friend earlier this year...different perspective from 310'

    Malaga Cove

You can park just outside the school parking lot on the street after 9pm. Make sure you are familar with the area before you start treking across the rocks at night. The beach entry is a longer, but safer entry/exit.

Did you lose a fin - Vets Park?

I found a fin today at Vets. There is no name or marking to help ID the owner (mark your gear!). If you think it's yours, post/PM the model, color and size, I'll see that you get it. It looks like it has only been under a short time, but time enough for an octopus to call it home.

Dive Trip - "I should have brought..."

Any time you travel, take more in your save-a-dive than you would locally. On our last High Springs trip, we had reg failures, LP hose falures, SPG o-rings, inflator hose tears....the works. If you'll have a access to hoses, etc nearby, cut back on what you bring, otherwise, be prepared.

Dos and Don'ts with Salvo 21 W Li Ion HiD

Once again, here's the information for care of a Salvo Li-Ion Battery: How should I care for my Li-Ion batteries? Your Li-Ion battery is 14.8 volts nominal. A fully charged Li-Ion battery will show between 16.6 and 17volts fully charged. To charge the Li-Ion battery, connect the charger to the...

    Spiegel Grove Incident

How come your insta-buddy had to pay for a guide with only 30 logged dives, but they let you go without one with only 25 dives? Personally, I think wrecks like Speigal and Daune are better suited to experienced divers. The wreck isn't so much the problem, but the currents in these areas is...

    Gear Theft at Ginnie Springs

Hey Rich, Sounds like Jenn and a few others will be back in September. If all goes well, I'll see you then. The plan is to stay at Divers Outpost and hang around Peacock. In the meantime, you should consider painting the ride back to it's original self. This way it won't look like a...

Any Luck With HD VIDEO Cameras?

Here's some HD footage shot from our trip last week to High Springs. The guy who shot it was testing his new Equinox housing and the Salvo 24W video lights we sold him. I believe the camera was a Sony FX1. The footage is the virgin run for the camera underwater, so don't be too critical. I'm...

    Mask recommendation.

I was an X-Vision fan, even though I hated the release clips, until last week. During a dive the lens on a new mask just popped out on one edge, flooding immediately. I picked up the DiveRite frameless and it fit great. I think the X-Vision offered more lens realestate, but I'm not going...

    wetsuit pockets

For price ($45) and quality, I have yet to see anything that stands up to the Oxycheq G-Pocket I have one on each of my wetsuits and they have held up better than the DiveRite pocket that I used prior. I put my wetsuit on and then rough position the pocket to my leg. Using a china pencil...

    Divers in\around Yarmouth N.S.

Hi Mike, Is there a decent dive shop in Yarmouth? I'm originally from Shelburne and have been discussing bringing a group of friends back to the South Shore for a dive trip. Does any one pump trimix? Thanks.
