    Open source deco software

Hello, Does anybody know of working open source decompression software that I can play around with? Buhlmann + GF prefered. I need the source code to adapt to my needs, so freeware isn't enough. I could program it myself with the info on the net but would like not to for obvious reasons...

    NewB: SCC computer

A KISS is a cheap rebreather if you're located in the US/Canada. If you live in Europe, a KISS is much more expensive than a Dolphin. A Kiss is 4600$, to which you need to add tanks (400$) + wing system (400$) + O2 cells (210$). Add shipping costs (about 150$), VAT (between 16 and 21%) and...

    SCR and headaches

.39 cuft/min is, for a male, very low. In the tropics/warm water I use about the same amount of air and I hardly ever meet anyone that uses less air than me. Unless you get a refund or a free dive because you only used half your air, I'd advise breathing a bit more! Some head-aches are also...

    double tank wing recommendation

Yup, OMS has a 'dir-style' 60 pounds wing which is hard to beat 'price vs quality'. I paid mine 175$, nowadays they are about 200$. I'm very satisfied with it. The fact that you can also buy it in red is a plus for me. YMMV. Steven

Yeah, but that's just plain status anxiety. steven

    Ranger or Halycion

Well, if you're using HP doubles with a wetsuit, I personally would go for a double bladder wing. If you would use a drysuit or some other kind of redundant lift, take a look at the OMS 'dir-style' wings, they are excellent value for money, sold on the net for under 200$. steven

    Hows my BP+Wing setup looking

Another option is to switch regulators: put your primary on your longer octopus hose, and your secondary regulator on your shorter hose. The breath from your primary reg (with the octopus hose) and necklace the octopus (on the short primary hose). This also gives you a bit more room when...

    A few novice questions

I believe the Voyager is CE approved as well. The Submatix is in the process of being approved. http://www.aquatek-online.net/ http://www.submatix.de But I'm saving up for a Kiss! steven

    Depth

Deeper than 80 meters on air is (IMO) crazy. I know 'cause I've did it a couple of times  I will not do it again (unless maybe in an emergency). I got a kid and I'd like to see him grow up. Can these dives cause dysbaric osteonecrosis? This is an excellent question to ask in the...

Andros, another option is Nothseadiving, near Oostduinkerke. They fill nitrox & trimix and can handle 300 bar fills. steven

    PADI Dry Suit Instruction?

My experience (as an instructor): you do NOT need the course. You DO need to buddy up with an experienced dry suit buddy and practice, practice, practice. Oh yes, don't forget to practice. steven

    Depth

60 meters on air is done every day. Take a look at Elphinstone reef south (The sarcophagus), you'll see lot's of divers doing this dive, most with a single 80. It's not the smartest thing to do, but it can easily be done. However, going deep is not difficult, it's coming up that poses the...

    Egypt Saint John Cruise

Personally I find Saint John overrated. You'll probably spend more time sailing than diving. If you do go to Saint John, make sure you depart from Hamata (to minimise sailing time). My advise would be to book a 'Best of trip' (Brothers, Elphinstone and Daedalus) on a top boat (Such as Oyster...

Which of these would you choose?.....

I just came back from Tenerife, did a couple of dives with 'Coral Sub'. Water temperature was 18° (next time I bring my drysuit), viz about 15 meters. Not bad, but not good either. Better than belgium off course ;) The owner of the dive center, Philippe, is a great guy (free beer after...
