The one hydro place down here refuses to do a plus rated hydro on my Faber ST85WH. I'm going to be at Windy Point Sept. 10 - 12 and was wondering if there was a shop around that can do the hydro without me needing to come back in a day or two. :dontknow:
I just got a Faber ST85WH that has marked on it "RFE 65" I believe this is the regulations that govern something about this cylinder, but I don't know what.
Where can I look up the RFE 65 and read more about it?
I bought a tank from a guy off craigslist and he threw in these regulators (apparently his dads) for free. I don't know anything about regs, have never serviced one, and have never opened one up.
I think it would be fun to try and recondition either of these but am unsure if it would be worth...
My girlfriend decided to get certified, and in an effort to make choosing between the two local shops a little easier I searched these forums, did a little thinking and compiled a list of questions to print out and go into a interview with.
I don't take credit for these, most of them I found...
Anyone pre-order the new Dorcy Dive II (or Penetrater 220 if you shop at Piranha)?
With the exception of the battery holder breaking (and promptly being replaced for free by Dorcy) I liked the 180 lumen as a inexpensive backup, or primary when I did not want to take my DR500 out.
I am...
I have been slowly amassing gear since I started diving last may, now I own everything but a regulator set. I have one issue that I was not able to resolve by reading through past posts on this forum and elsewhere on the internet, and that is what regulator hose lengths and configuration would...
I just recently got a wrist mount dive computer and a DSS bungee mount. I have seen three prominent arm positions to mount it, and was wondering if there were any reason behind any of them or if it was all just personal preference. I have seen on top of the hand, with one bungee loop around the...
A new physics prof around here has gotten the physics club (all 4 of us) interested in building a cupola furnace so we can host our own iron pours. We have everything in order but a design for the furnace so it looks like before the end of the school year we could very well be pouring our own...
My LDS really pushes the zeagle gulf, but I cannot find any info on it on your website. It looks very similar to the stiletto to my novice eye. So what makes a gulf a gulf?
Note: I'm not looking to buy one, just asking.
I am reading Getting Clear on the Basics: The Fundamentals of Technical Diving by Jarrod Jablonski, and have a question on the GUE Factor. What was the point? Is it easier for most people to remember the GUE Factor when doing dissimilar tank conversion? Chapter 11 section 7 page 126.
I'm...
Help! Some hose is leaking something all over the top of my Ford V6 scubamobile. Looking for answers on google is not proving fruitful because I don't know what any of those hoses are called or for. Anyone know?
My LDS is bringing a OW class to Mammoth this weekend. I'm headed up there to get in my nitrox and night dives Saturday, and my navigation cert Sunday. Any swampers headed that way?
Ok, I had my new DSS rig out in a 14.6 deep pool today. I bribed a freelance PADI instructor with a six pack to come help me with weighting and buoyancy, and to bring a reg set and weights I could borrow, so I didnt have to rent them. I ordered on Tobins suggestion a Large Kydex back plate...
Following your guide and movies I have everything threaded properly, and adjusted the best I can on land (I should be getting the new rig wet this afternoon), but I have a question.
When I position the back plate just below the prominent vertebrae (but high enough I can easily reach the top...
After reading, allot on this forum and some especially helpful posts from DA Aquamaster, I have some regulator questions.
1. In allot of Mk25 vs Mk17 threads the Mk17 is said to be better sealed. Scubapro calls it environmentally sealed. What is sealed? The Mk25 seems air-tight.
2...
Below is a list of dive magazines a scuba friend of mine gave me before he moved. (What a way to get rid of them, dump them on the eager new guy.) Anyway, anyone want to some to pad their scuba library? Any LDS have a library?
All free to anyone who can use them, otherwise I'll recycle them...
Sorry for the precise language, im not sure what this part of the valve is called. Attached is a picture of a Dacor valve, I'm wondering if its still safely usable or should be replaced.
The inner ring that holds the O-Ring is bent inward in a few places.
Are you new and looking to buy a dive light? I have a piece of advice that did not seem to come up as much in lighting. Try everything. Rent, borrow, or whatever and try everything you can in as much representative water as you can.
I recently got a chance to dive with the Texas Swamp Divers...
