I would recommend staying away from Suunto or SP and stick with a computer using Buhlman algorithm. I started with a Suunto and later moved to SW Perdix 2. However, with your location the Ratio may be a better option than the SW. Both will provide the flexibility to progress and both hold value. If your intent is to just dive on vacation a couple times a year than most of your list will work just fine. If your intent is to progress to diving regularly, invest in the SW or Ratio.
Right now I'm leaning towards ratio more and more.
However I think suunto ocean and SP galileo g3 both have buhlmann's algorithm so it's not going to be a problem. I got great price on galileo g3 with transmitter - it's almost the same as new ratio idive with no transmitter so that's a tough decision..

Peregrine TX, can add AI if needed. If you progress it would be a great back up but can really do everything. If you don’t need AI, look at a garmin.
Peregrine TX would be awesome but a little out of my budget right now. Although I might need to take garmin into consideration especially that descent g1 is like 420 usd for a new one

The Ratio I Dive Easy has Buhlmann presets, no custom settings, if that makes any difference to you. The Ratio computers can be upgraded for a fee. The Tech+ has custom GF.

The Scubapro G3 does not run straight Buhlmann, it is adjusted for an altitude setting if that matters to you. There is a thread on SB about it.

Ratio, Scubapro, and Suunto do not run extras such as SurfGF

Best of luck on your computer purchase

Okay, thanks for explanation!

In terms of usage, I feel that there is no big difference between them. Of course, there are a few watches that are indeed of poor quality, such as the recognized AQUALUNGI750 screen problem. The only thing you need to consider may be the price and whether it is a daily wear issue. Of course, this is just my personal opinion.

If you are looking for a decent price point for the features I would give a good look at the Aqualung i330R. If offers an easy on the eyes color screen, very intuitive interface,, blue tooth for dive log, and is very easy to use. It has enough features to keep you going for a very long time

A lightly used Suunto D4i or D6i is a good place to start: cheap and versatile. After 100 dives or so, you’ll be in a better position to spend the big bucks on something longer lasting and better tailored to your diving.

Be generous and sell him one dude and as the computer does not do the diving, you do
one should not spend more than $100 used before you own a house and some nice cars

Holy.. that's a nice collection you have! I also feel like most of the good brands are going to be pretty reliable and close in terms of functionality (especially on my level of diving) so it all comes mostly to the price tag on them.

Price-to-value ratio is really important for me and I’d like to keep my budget as low as possible without getting something I’ll regret
It's time to learn to watch the analog SPG then.
If you follow the rule of thirds, you'll not need a computer making predictions on remaining air. Besides, the computer cannot know such things as swimming with vs. against the current.
(btw I know that shearwater is pretty much the best choice out there, but it's also pricey here in EU so that's why I'm considering other brands)
Or maybe you get a Mares Puck / Suunto Zoop / Suunto Vyper (deco model) and a Heinrichs Weikamp bottom timer (nice LCD screen). You'd have two then. This was my choice after seeing the Shearwater pricing. Yeah, the B&W dot matrix screens do suck but your could learn from tables how long you can stay at certain depth before needing to worry about decompression stops. You would mostly watch the bottom timer then. This, though, requires some planning and skill.

I have done trimix dives to 150-180 feet using a Suunto Vyper in gauge mode (and an Oceanic bottom timer). I absolutely hated those screens, and now I have this nice bottom timer with a great screen and cheaper price. Dives need to be planned in advance, though. Square profile |__| dives are simplest.

  1. If you get a recreational computer, make sure it has nitrox and gauge modes.
  2. If you get a tech computer, make sure it has Buhlman deco algorithm.
  3. A bottom timer with a LCD screen can be a great choice, but you'll need a secondary method of counting decompression (a computer or tables). This could actually be a good compromise as you'll require a backup gauge/bottom timer if you advance into immesurable depths... :D
