Any Garmin running or swimming watch (in Walk mode) mounted to a torpedo float will work, too.

Should look something like the image below using the Garmin Connect application to download the data.

The different colors of the line account for changes in speed.

Would love to see a pic of this watch/torpedo float setup.

I’ll try to snap one when I get home. Prepare to be underwhelmed.

When you say drop in, do you mean based around current ptb slots?
What’s the underlying battery spec? 21700s I assume? BMS with Bluetooth access etc?
Yes, the packs utilize the PTB mounts but use standard Anderson PP45 connectors for power transmission. 10s4p 21700. Packs will be available in 2 options, Standard BMS, and Bluetooth upgrade.

and for those who want zero range anxiety, some of the other packs we build are 1500wh packs for the Cuda550+ and we have made a few 1900wh packs for the SS Minnus Valkyrie...

We might invest some time into developing a 25ah or possibly 30ah pack for the BT if space/weight permits. We will not build a pack that does not allow trim and neutral capability.

Cheers for the pic,
that does look quite similar to my planned pack (using lg M50s 10S4P) apart from the ptb connector, that does look sweet  I was just going to use velcro or so but perhaps I can get a simple 3d part printed instead.

So to my surprise I actually received the Scooter yesterday. 2 weeks earlier then expected..... at first glance this sounds like a good thing..... but now I'm really really fiending to get some good batteries 😣

That looks really cool. What is the deal with charging it? You'll also sell some kind of charger that connects to that Anderson connector?

I have the Dewalt 9 Ah FlexVolts and have yet to use more than half the battery (usually only use one bar) in a full day of what is usually 3 dives.

Is that 3 dives of actually driving around at speeds of 3 - 4? Or are you talking about 3 dives of dropping down to 100 feet and blowing sand? And what length dives? 30 minutes of bottom time per dive? Or 3 x 1 hour long dives (with driving the scooter during a decent part of each dive)?

3 dive day tooth diving, roughly 30 min bottom time - run my reel out while on the trigger (speeds 3-4), blow sand good portion of dive (speeds 1-2, mostly 1), leave reel and scooter back to anchor line (usually speed 5+). End of day batteries will be usally have one light (out of 3) dimmed, I think once in a full day I got it past two lights (which I guess is down to 33% now that I realize its 3 lights...)

2 dives constantly on trigger - just did that recently on our Morehead trip, did two dives with buddy with scooter where we were both on trigger the whole time, at least speed 3-4, batteries at end of day had one bar gone. Other days where I just use the scooter to cruise a little around the wreck then tie it off for most of dive the batteries still show full at end of day.

Should say I am going by the light bar on the DeWalt batteries, not the battery display on the BlackTip.

The Waitley 9 Ah batteries do not perform as well as the DeWalts. I have a set of those as well, was going to keep them as a backup set but since the weighting is different on them it makes it a pain to switch back and forth. I will likely sell them and buy another set of DeWalt 9 Ah or maybe a set of 12 Ah just in case I ever have a dive where I anticipate needing more.

Right. I think that is more informative than just that you find the 9's to be plenty for a 3-dive day.

I suspect if you did 3 shore dives in FL, instead, the 9's would not be close to enough capacity. They might not even be enough for 2 dives, if you were scootering along a reef in the 40 - 60 foot range.

Personally, I am glad I bought the 12s. Have not regretted them. Have never run them dry in a day, so have only bought the 1 pair of batteries, in the year and half we have had the BlackTips.

That said, I taught a DPV class on Tue for a student that bought a BlackTip Tech. He hasn't been able to find batteries, so I let him use my DeWalt 12s and I borrowed an SS Magnus scooter to use for the day. My student has ordered a set of the Calihutt 12s that were linked early in this thread and expecting them any day.

So, we shall soon find out how those Calihutt 12s compare to the DeWalt 12s.... :D If they are pretty close and also very close in weight, I might have to order a pair just to have as backups/spares. Of course, the chances that they are really close in weight seems pretty slim. Or... maybe they'll turn out to be identical - just re-labeled DeWalts. That would be pretty awesome at less than half the price of the DeWalts.
