Saturday was the highest load factors into Mexico that I have seen since the start of the pandemic. While every passenger is welcome many of the current leisure travelers do not fly often (I think they prefer a Carnival cruise) it can get problematic at TSA screening. I try to avoid screening in terminals that have Spirit or Frontier operations

The prices are going absolutely haywire, too. I bought tickets to Cancun back in March for a two week trip in August and paid $180 each. Now, the same ticket is $720. You can fly to Indonesia for another $100 or save the same and fly to the Canary Islands.

I wish I had wings and a really big pouch.

SW started the run from Hobby to CZM last March. We were going to try it but COVID.

We did it twice in April and May. Price was great little more than what we were paying BWI nonstop to CUN pre-pandemic. And Hobby is kind of nice. Not the mad rush like GB or DFW.

Then we booked June leaving next week for the torneo. Holy sticker shock. It was CRAZY high. The wife flies free on the companion pass so it still was good, but the single ticket was still like 900+.

Was looking at Sept and it seems to be back down by then, but only weekend flights mainly.

Hurricane season, alot of folks are hesitant to plan a vacation 3-6 months out (arranging time off work for both spouses) with the uncertainty of weather. All open leisure destinations are going to be packed for the next three months. There is alot of pent up travel demand this summer. By this fall I think most corporations will put their foot down and tell the workers they are going back to the office and corporate travel will kick back in.

were told the pilot was a last minute no show. No weather in Miami or San Diego. There is weather in Philadelphia where we’re routed through. And large passenger jets are all weather machines that fly above weather shirt of hurricanes. American is so notorious they have an entire rebooking Dept and ten local Miami hotels just for bumped passengers.
That sounds like an extreme weather event. Was it? Nothing an airline can do about weather grounding flights. Customer service is indeed challenged these days as airlines laidd off so many employees many of whom have to be replaced and new hires trained. Welcome to 2021.

Did you see that United has added nonstop service LAX to CZM on Saturdays? New Nonstop flights from Los Angeles

I am confused. You posted that hundreds of folks were stranded by AA in Cozumel going to Miami and again in Miami. How long were folks stranded in Cozumel? In Miami? Did they ever get to their final destination?

I flew through Miami once to CZM. Good cubans!

Actually watched last fall as a hurricane was approaching Cozumel with a 9:30 PM projected landfall. AA still ran flight 1256 with a departure time of around 4:30 PM. Flight ran on time while everyone else cancelled.:D
Last Saturday the DFW flight was late and had to divert around Cancun and over Tulum due to thunderstorms with tops above 50K'

Yeah, they should have those pilots live at the airports so that they won't have traffic issues, etc.

So hundreds and hundreds were grounded because one 737 pilot had a flat? Exaggerate much?
American Airlines just stranded several hundred on a Cozumel to Miami trip, delay caused misused flight in dallas. Then stranded hundreds more on Miami to San Diego and other flights.

Ha, so much faith in those magical flying machines. I've seen plenty of weather events that I wouldn't want to try to take off in, and while the airlines are well insured for crashes, those are bad for business and then there is all that paperwork.

Why were you going thru Miami to get to California anyway? I'm an amateur, but I can always bypass that horrid I&C experience. I guess that you saw that United it now flying nonstop LAX-CZM on Saturdays for $361 & up.
Hey, I was the lady in blue at the front of the line. Flight only 1/2 full. Greeted by mayor and mariachis
