Ok, I can't remember who said what and when - but SOMEONE had a recommendation about who to call for a ride from the Cancun airport to the ferry. I didn't pay attention because I thought we had it covered by Cozumel Palace, but it turns out we were getting a 'free week' via our friends, and a transfer doesn't come with it. So ... help! Who is 'the guy to call' for a good rate please!? Thank you and apologies for not paying closer attention! :)[/

Here's a English version of capacities and such now that we are in Yellow - not much different but more capacity, indoor gyms now and public beaches now

I wish that 5pm beer sales cutoff would go away. Seems counter-productive. People that might be fine to get some beer and hang around the room or house are now forced to go to bar n grills and hang out with lots of people.

It says they are supposed to be closed.

Please post a trip report, including what you think of Blue Angel. Hubby loves the pool at Hotel Cozumel, so it's not likely we would switch.

Hi Sallygirl. Here is my report. I really enjoyed Blue Angel. The rooms are basic, but the beds are comfortable and the air conditioning works fantastically. The view is just wonderful. Every room is ocean front with a lanai that is looking at the pool and ocean. The breakfasts are amazing. I had an omelet every morning, but felt it was my duty to try the french toast with a couple of fried eggs and the salmon eggs benedict (since I was reporting back and needed to be thorough :) ) as well. I didn't do the all inclusive package, so only had a couple of other meals there, but they were also good. The bar is fully stocked and their happy hour is two for one drinks. Every single staff member knows your name and, since I am a friendly person, I took the time to get to know some of them. Many have been there for 10-15 years. Everyone is really nice, friendly, and wants you to enjoy your stay.

The on site dive operation was great. The staff was very nice and the dive guides (all of whom are instructors) where top notch. There is a wonderful man who takes care of your gear all week named Alfredo. Unfortunately, there were no boat night dives while I was there, but I did a few shore night dives. They were super. The octopuses in Cozumel are so spectacular. It was a real treat that a staff member and his girlfriend came out and did a night dive with me. And, one day I was the only diver on the boat, so they joined me for the boat diving as well.

Staying at Blue Angel felt very comfortable and friendly. I would, certainly, stay there again.

There are two downsides.

1. There is street noise that you hear in your room. Since I come from an extremely quiet part of Hawai'i, I heard it. The guy staying there from Brooklyn didn't hear it at all. The woman and her daughter a couple of rooms down from me heard it clearly. So, it takes a couple of days to adjust to the street noise. I think it's the price you pay for being on the ocean side of the street and it was well worth it to me.

2. It is still a real walk into town. 20 to 30 minute walk or a 100 peso taxi ride.

I am scheduled to go back to Cozumel at the end of October. That trip is pre-paid already for Scuba Club. I'll see what I think of that place. And, on my flight from Coz, my seatmate was the owner of Villa Aldora, so I'll be checking that place out on another trip!
