Casa Mexicana is nice, and a trip over New Years means that its lack of any real pool is less of a downside. But if you are looking for bare bones, there are a lot of places cheaper, including both Suites Bahia and Suites Colonial, both of which include Casa Mexicana’s breakfast buffet. For a cheaper option, look at Hotel la Casona Real - a few blocks back from the main plaza, but about half the price of Casa Mexicana. Breakfast not included, but you save about $35 a night, enough to cover all your meals. And its an easy walk to the Zermatt Bakery, good coffee and great pastries for a pre-dive breakfast.

Look into Hotel Mary Carmen. Its on the square. You should be able to stay inexpensively. I like to dive with Liquid Blue. They offer steel tanks. Youncan talk with them about transportation to the marina, i also like Salty Endevors. Henry keeps his boat north of town so intown pickup should be no problem.

^^ yes, I remember it south of the square on the part of 5th that is a pedestrian walkway.
Dandy Don just stayed there...he will chime in.

If Dandy Don likes it, it's GOTTA be good :p

I am going solo in January, staying at an Air BnB a block off the malecon for about $25/night. It has a kitchen for me to make a quick breakfast on my own and I am walking distance to taco shops/etc. 5 nights for about $125... cant beat it :)

Sold, Mary Carmen it is. Funny, though. Through the Hotel's site it would have been over $1000 for the nine nights, Expedia about $650, Booking.com $550.

Anyone who's dove with Liquid Blue and/or XT~Sea, any input in their policy on dive length (can I continue my dive through air/no-decompression limits or does everyone ascend with the first diver to hit 1,000 psi)?

I was going to go a similar route, but like what people had to say about the Mary Carmen,

I know Liquid Blue will let you dive your air. Pretty sure Blue XT will also try to buddy people up for surfacing at 700psi. Never heard of either sending everyone up together.
