Last I had heard of Mr. McAfee, he was on AC complaining about being the target of a police raid on his property near Orange Walk. According to him, he had tried to steer clear of local politics and the raid was in retaliation for his refusal to back a certain unnamed politician.

This was in an article in the local Placencia paper last June.

I can sympathize with his complaint. The police here have been doing raids quite frequently. Apparently anyone can "tip" them off about ....anyone, and they will raid your place.
Last year Oct at 5 AM I heard some vehicles pull in my driveway...mind you we live in a guarded farm with a gate and guards....and then BAM BAM BAM !!!! n my door. I open it thinking it was some of the farm guys telling me something was wrong and there were 5 fully armed soldiers. They tell me to get down on the floor and shoved a warrant in my face....which I couldn't read without my glasses. Then they proceeded to search EVERYTHING in my house as my wife and 2 year old son, Jake, Tino and Mo watched in disbelief. I've never even had a traffic ticket in Belize and now I'm a drug and arms dealer suspect????
I was downright pissed and rude and looking back, I'm lucky I didn't get a rifle butt in the face. They told me I had a bad attitude and I told them, "WHAT !! I'm supposed to serve up some coffee and donuts for you busting in my house !!??
It really sucked. Belize is becoming a police state in that you're guilty until proven innocent.
My kids had found some live 20 gauge shotgun rounds on the farm a week before and brought them home. We shoot birds on the farm that eat shrimp. Lucky my wife found them and threw them in the trash. If the police had found them in my house, ALL ADULTS in the house would have been taken straight to prison in Hattiville, no questions asked until your bail or trial. Never mind that there was no fire arm. It really sucks. Someone could plant something in your car like that and tip off the police.

Wow, I'm glad that didn't happen when I was visiting you at your place last June.

Although it would have made for an interesting Trip Report.:)

Or instead of being a nice law abiding citizen like yourself, this could be about a drugged out hippy who goes to a 3rd world country to hang out with gangsters, has lost 96 million of the 100 million net worth, has a 17 year old girl friend, and has spent years playing with mild altering drugs by inserting them up his ass.

It's a remarkably short ride from the penthouse to the sh*t house.

The story is ongoing. He is quoted today as saying that he feared for his life if taken into government custody. He is probably correct, but that applies to everyone down there. As for drugs on AC, I heard of quite a few folks down there who were visiting with the "little people".

You can't blame a guy for having a 17 year old girlfriend....
But you're posting this based on hearsay. Yes, maybe some, or all is true. But one thing I've learned living here....it's a small place and EVERYONE talks about EVERYONE. If you ask 10 different Belizeans about McAfee, you'll get 20 different stories.

Rhumor has it he hooked up with Rob Durst, went to burning man, and got caught naked nut plowing the sand with a monolith for a cog piece while he walked like a spider at a rave. Durst (sober) pretend he was a 17yr old girl in spray painted latex with glowsticks broken in his glowing hair and dripping down all over McAffee's monolith.

Waiting for the mug shots to follow...

Well, maybe we will know soon enough. He was arrested today in Guatemala City for illegally entering the country. Posted a few hours ago. Go figure.... Illegal entry? That's a new concept huh? Bruce
