Thank you all for your input whether positive or negative I think I will get the fixed swivels thank you for the advice my instructor does a limited cave / wreck class on sidemount (unique specialty). I shouldn't have said I have a don't take crap attitude (because I don't). My instructor and I are friends and he said not to tell his name and/or agency. And I couldn't think of another word to use but legit again I am sorry and have taken time to think on all of your thoughts. Also has anyone tried the miflex HP hoses?

very nice post. I think you will find that you will get a lot more help, and you will have a lot more credibility when offering advice here with posts like that.

As for miflex hoses, I have lp miflex hoses on my singles red, and not happy with them. The 7' hose has had a slight bend in it from the begining, and not matter what I have tried, it just won't straighten out. Well, I haven't tried heating it with a torch, but that might be next.

The other thing I don't like about them (and didn't think of before purchasing), is that if I am wearing my drysuit without a hood, I don't like the way the rough braided hose rubs on my neck seal.

I have never tried the hp hoses, and I know there was a recall on them a few months ago, but as I understand it, they have the issues worked out and are shipping a new version.

I just picked up a new doubles reg, and went with traditional hoses, and probably won't go back to miflex anytime soon.

thank you for understanding I was kind of tired at let's say 2:30 this morning. I read an SB post (don't remember the title) that said that his miflex HP hose would leak air during a dive which wouldn't be good in any overhead environment after you got into the cave

although obviously no leaks are desired, a leak from an hp hose isn't as bad as a leak from an lp hose, hp hoses leak very slowly.

I am guessing that the post you read was from a while back before the recall. However, the recall is enough for me to stay away from miflex hp hoses for at least a few years, until they have proven themselves in the field.

If your instructor doesn't want you to state his name or agency then he is most likely doing something wrong like violating his agency's own standards. I would think long and hard before putting myself into a class with an instructor that asks his name and agency not be shared.

My inflator hose has the same problem but I have the stock hoses (which I was actually considering getting for the over head class) but thanks for telling me since I was planning on getting them tommorow before diving the Oriskany next week.

It's because I got waived to do it after my knee surgery and he doesn't usually ask for a waiver even for kids that have had the same operation. Thanks for the thought though

Another ding on him. Any medical history requires a waiver. That is for any agency. It would seem he's doing quite a few things against standards.

That's why I got the waiver from the Pres. Of the agency. So that I could keep diving after a knee surgery.
