Try, of all things, Amazon:

That looks like it would serve the same purpose, but is not as elegant in design and function.

Bombay, a lot of divers put a plastic ball on the end of the pin to make it easier to release, if you're salty enough use some twine to make a monkey fist of an appropriate size (but then I'm a little nuts, no duct tape on my umbilicals, all moused with twine).

Probably not as salty as Akimbo and you  but salty enough to know how to make a monkeys fist !

I have always used a snap shackle for my umbilical and have never had or heard of a problem with them. For just about everything else I use mountain climbing carabiners. Some with or without a locking gate depending on the application.

Have folks used these different types of hooks with thick neoprene gloves and/or dry gloves aka...cold or very cold water environment where you seem to lose most of your tacticle feeling and dexterity?

Looks similar to snap shackles, but eliminates the extra pin to release. Thanks for the link, just placed an order.

Please let us know what you think of the quality of this particular model once you get it your hands on it. The Amazon site doesn't even say what material it is made from or strength rating. Hopefully you will know more from the packaging.

It would be very interesting to see if you can clip this onto a line or D-ring with one hand.

The standard size mountain climbing carabiner should be easy enough to use with thick gloves. If these are still to small there are many larger size carabiners available.
