If you can find it, Chuck, I'd like it. One less thing I have to buy/make. Wonder what happened to the person in it?
Thanks!

Kristina,

The rubber bungie with a hole in the middle is different than the self made bungies that most DIR divers use...

I really don't know how Chuck found this rubber bungie at the Met field, cannot see how it would come off your neck?

The self made bungie is held on by knots, if they unraveled, the bungie could come off the zip tie, but that's an extreme failure, since the knots are large and secure nicely to the zip tie.

The rubber bungies in my opinion are for those that just don't want to measure a self made bungie and cut it and strap it to your reg with secured knots.

AND ... if you're ever attacked by ninjas, you can deploy the long hose like a weapon. You can also remove both backup lights and clip the bolt snaps together for some bad-ass nun chucks. But that is an advanced technique which requires a Tech 2 rating or better.

Dude,

You made me fall off my seat laughing when I read this.... :rofl3::rofl3::rofl3:

I had my bungie knot untie twice on my last summers intense dive binge - both times on the surface. But catching stuff like that is what pre/post dive equipment checks are for - so no biggie.

I tied new knots and later replaced the bungee. Now I still dive with the new knotted bungee back-up necklace - no problem yet.

Curious if the rubber necklace is favored? Why/why not?

Actually, I have one of the rubber "bungies" with a hole for the mouthpiece
somewhere. I found it at the met fields a couple of years ago. If anybody
wants it, it's yours. IF I can find it.

I have two more they can have, they suck.

Why do they suck? My current config with the octo clipped hooked to the upper D ring kinda sucks, the octo never seems to be where I want it, and I fiddle with it several times during a dive to make sure it stays in a good place.

Kathy,

When your knots untied, did you have the ends burnt? Did you add superglue to the knots? Dolphin Scuba showed me how to burn the ends on my bungie and add just a dab of superglue to the ends.

My bungie is going on about 50 dives, all in Monterey with still no unraveling. :)
