They do serve good dinners there! Since we stay there, we now often do supper there when doing a night dive, but it's good to get away too.

Here's my list:

  1. Kinta's-- Just Kinta, not Kinta's. Mexican Bistro-Seafood/Pasta/Chicken/Beef etc.
  2. Especias-- Argentine influence. Seafood/Pasta/Chicken/Beef etc.
  3. Le Chef-- Fresh ingredients--Pizza/Salads/Pasta/Seafood/Chicken/Beef/Soup etc.

Thanks so much!!
Gail (AKA: Bandmom)

These are the ones I know about. Kinta and Le Chef are my groups top 2.

In Kentucky? :shocked2: They look at your funny if you ask about Chicken Fried Steaks there, and Tacos probly look more like Pita sandwiches. I don't know of any decent Tex-Mex east of the Mississippi, and even west you got to avoid the chains!

No silly....not in Kentucky! TexMex in Kentucky....I wish! I asked for Queso once and this is exactly what the waiter said "you want that I melt you some chesse?" :shakehead: ....so sad. No, I meant good TexMex style in Cozumel..... :D

Did you order the $10 Can-Do map for Coz? I don't agree with all of their suggestions, and we have been emailing today about the mistakes on the airport van fares, but they do give a lot of info on a lot of various places, including featured food and price ranges.

Yep! I ordered 3 of them right after I saw your post. I ordered the Cozumel, Cozumel Reefs and the Mayan Adventure maps :D

Sorry Alohagal....I'm gonna hijack this thread for a minute :hijackedthread:

First, for Don...my fellow Texan (moment of silence please) :texas: :D
We so miss good ole "TexMex" food.....hopefully you know what I'm talking about. What is the best place for something close to good old Texan TexMex?

Now.....I tallied the "votes" for all the restraunts listed on this thread and several others (yep...I'm OCD) and have my little list BUT I need to know what type of food they serve (ie: Mexican, Seafood, etc.). I filled some in based on what I think they are. Here's my list:

  1. Kinta's
  2. El Moro - Seafood??
  3. Especias
  4. Los Otates - Tacos; Fast Food??
  5. La Choza - Seafood?? (someone mentioned grilled fish)
  6. Casa Denis
  7. Le Chef
  8. La Parlita - Seafood??
  9. The Museum - For Breakfast
  10. La Cocay
  11. Coconuts - Fish Burgers and the view
Thanks so much!!

Tex-Mex in Mexico?

Uh, you'll get Real-Mex there, and as I mentioned - localized for the Yucatan style, largely adjusted for the grigos.

Did you number your list according to the mentions? I wouldn't put too much into the numbers, but I bet any of them would be great. Here's the long list as I copied it...

Prima, Cabaña del Pescador or Lobsteria?

Gail, The lobster served is really not that over to top great in Coz. I apologize for my snobby attitude but my standard is set from my Northeast Yankee days and fresh perfectly cooked Main lobster experience. I even had a native Main coast resident teach me how to dismantle those succulent critters down to the very nubbing....My gosh I show no mercy when it comes to lobster ...and this coming from someone who catches lost spiders and bugs and relocates them outside instead of smashing them on the spot. But lobster........give be a pot of boiling water and melted butter and I turn into a monster.

As far as TexMex....I actually have Kinta in mind for you. Now, first, Kinta is NOT TexMex. HOWEVER, out of all of the places I have been to on Coz or otherwise for that matter, Kinta serves very well prepared spicy/hot selections with a unique flare. Although, I do have to say for the record that I base my report on what I have been told by several folks who dine there and witnessing first hand people enjoying their meals there, my hubby included. Unfortunately I can not eat hot spiced foods due to this crazy allergic reaction I have. But , from the conversation and comments while dining and the general experience I have had at Kinta's , as recently as last week in fact, I will say that the food aromas, preparation, presentation, atmosphere and service at Kinta's is topnotch. And if comparing the selections at Kinta's to the TexMex here in Austin using the same criteria, I will have to say Kinta is better.

Enjoy and Bon Appétit

I think Prima would be the way to go. La Lobsteria has closed and the location is now LeBistro.

Oh that is priceless! I understand insect rescue. I have been know to rush out to my back yard, soaking wet, with no clothes on, just to gingerly relocate a spider who found its way into my shower.:)
