Hello all contributors,

Thanks for the ever growing list. I can't wait to try some of these places. Now, I need to go and research Playa Del Carmen eateries for week number 2!

In Cancun, I took a taxi from the downtown bus station to my new Dentist's office, but the cabbie couldn't find it. I had the doc's number in my phone, call it, let them tell the cabbie how to get there. And cabbies don't know where Parrilla Mission is in Coz.

Very good investments: Can-Do Travel Guides

Okay, what kind of commission plan do they have you on?

It's a simple ego thing, sharing my opinion. :cowboy:

I'm getting worse tho; I'm starting to critique their mistakes.

Double dipping then, are we? Collecting both commissions and consulting fees.

They don't answer my emails, but the map deliveries are fast...!

Last night, after packing your gear I suppose? Fly home already dehydrated. :pilot: I was younger once. I've been in that place after the c-boats were gone for the day; seemed pretty dull. I don't have the party spirit anymore I guess. (do we have an old coot smilie?)

Well. it sure ain't what it used to be. I do believe the c-boats are pulling out way-y-y earlier than they did a few years back: I'm sure they want to keep the money on the ship. The sad part is it's not just C + C's that a lot emptier. I think most of the local places have fewer customers than I remember.
I usually do the drunken sailor night before my mid-week off day. Of course, my drunken sailor routine isn't what it used to be either. Maybe I don't have as many friends in low places as I used to.

Sorry Alohagal....I'm gonna hijack this thread for a minute :hijackedthread:

First, for Don...my fellow Texan (moment of silence please) :texas: :D
We so miss good ole "TexMex" food.....hopefully you know what I'm talking about. What is the best place for something close to good old Texan TexMex?

Now.....I tallied the "votes" for all the restraunts listed on this thread and several others (yep...I'm OCD) and have my little list BUT I need to know what type of food they serve (ie: Mexican, Seafood, etc.). I filled some in based on what I think they are. Here's my list:

  1. Kinta's
  2. El Moro - Seafood??
  3. Especias
  4. Los Otates - Tacos; Fast Food??
  5. La Choza - Seafood?? (someone mentioned grilled fish)
  6. Casa Denis
  7. Le Chef
  8. La Parlita - Seafood??
  9. The Museum - For Breakfast
  10. La Cocay
  11. Coconuts - Fish Burgers and the view

Thanks so much!!

In Kentucky? :shocked2: They look at your funny if you ask about Chicken Fried Steaks there, and Tacos probly look more like Pita sandwiches. I don't know of any decent Tex-Mex east of the Mississippi, and even west you got to avoid the chains!

Fajitas were invented in the Texas Rio Grande valley you know, altho there are some references to vaqueros eating diaphragm or flank steak rolled in tortillas earlier. If made from other than beef flank steak, i.e. chicken, pork, shrimp, it ain't a fajita as the word is derived from Spanish for flank. With other meats, call it a taco, burrito, whatever.

La Parilla is a locals cafe with Yucatan style Mexican food, a little different from mainland food even, their chili relleno is not made with the traditional pepper - altho I suspect most of the places have adjusted menus to accommodate gringos somewhat and will generally offer much of both Yucatan Mexican and Seafood.

You left of Sonora's? Nice place. Get a window table overlooking the street below.

Did you order the $10 Can-Do map for Coz? I don't agree with all of their suggestions, and we have been emailing today about the mistakes on the airport van fares, but they do give a lot of info on a lot of various places, including featured food and price ranges. I'll eat breakfast and lunch at my hotel, but for dinner - I don't want to ask a taxi driver for suggestions.

Hola from COZ! We had dinner last night here at Blue Angel (Rendez Blu) since they are now open for dinner. WONDERFUL meal-The mango shrimp salad was scrumptious and the grilled red snapper cooked to perfection. And the best view in COZ for sunsets!
I think we may forgo Prima's or LaVerenda and dine here again before we leave.

BTW the diving is great!
