Hello to all!!! I happened upon this forum and thought, "this seems like a very positive place!" and wondered what must one do to 'join up'. We are already 10 days into December so you guys are already well on your way for the month.

I do work out at least five days a week, but sometimes, a little (and sometimes, uh, a lot) of support is a definite good thing! Especially around this time of year. I need to stay on track!

You guys seem like a friendly bunch indeed!

carrie :)

Yes yes! Positive and supportive absolutely. That's why I think I'll like this bunch so much. Thanks very much for the welcome!!! :luxhello:

For me, one more slice, done carefully, really doesn't hurt.

I've been very careful since October 1, when I started really working on losing weight, and am now down 27 lbs (over halfway to my goal). I took the day after Thanksgiving off (our big family gathering) and ate whatever I wanted (the equivalent of a bunch more slices). I still lost at least one pound over the Thanksgiving weekend. I just got back from a three day trip, during which I took a half day off (my second splurge day since October). I maintained my weight loss over the trip, then dropped two pounds immediately after.

Its really nice to be able to eat what I want for a day, here and there. If I really keep it to a day here and there it is pretty harmless. For me, being able to look forward to a specific, single day, when I can eat whatever I feel like eating is pretty good motivation to hold the line the rest of the time (at least during the weight loss phase - I'll have a lot harder time once I reach my goal and need to increase what I eat, but not too much).

Just sharing what works for me!

Actually, I've read that if you vary your caloric intake from time to time, it's a good thing from a metabolic perspective. You don't want your system to get too accustomed to a "set point". It's a good thing to kinda jolt your system a little... within reason, of course. (Not meaning you should go out and eat a whole Junior's cheesecake or anything!)

Hey Mrs A!!! I have been good at keeping up my 2 miles a day...and I added in a punching/kicking bag thingy (that is the technical term). I haven't increased my distance, so I need to kick it up a notch this week. When it starts to feel comfortable thats when i know I need to push myself.

Just found this thread. Jan 1 will be my day. I want to get in shape for Mar 5 Bonaire trip!! I need to lose about 20 lbs and get some strength to carry all that gear over the ironshore!

Awesome!!! I used to run to get ready for trips to Bonaire. Now, I am doing it regardless of a trip.

Have a great time and keep focused!
