isn't that the whole idea of the development at the old Palancar pier. I remember reading it was shut down several times during Covid but heard the work continued at night. Then there was a rumor the same guy was wanting to dredge a channel thru Cielo to the lagoon and dedge it out for a marina.
Im thinking that when Royal Carribean takes over Playa Mia for their private beach club, they may extend the pier there so they can bring in one of winjets smaller ferries as a shuttle to and from the cruise ship ( The Molina family that owns winjet also owns Playa Mia and is also the ones that are building the 4th pier). This way it eliminates the taxi union for transport because they will want their cut for transport still. There is gonna be lots of developments all through the land in the marine park area. Several more beach clubs coming soon.... all this at a further decline in the reef.

I see people swimming there everymorning especially the competitive athletes. They start from around hotel villablanca swim north to stingray pens and return south. On Sundays lots of locals go there in the water. There is stair access to the beach all along their. The new pier will be built next to sunset bar area.
Yep. Every time we;ve been, there is a group of swimmers that come out and swim from BA to VB and back. I've done the ironman a few times, and that's where I'd get my training swims in (while staying at BA), and I know a coach that runs camps down there, BA - VB is their usual safe swim route

I heard there is some legal proceedings that have halted the mantaraya project....for the time being. There is petitions on the island and online for people to sign to hopefully stop these developments from taking place and destroying the villablanca reef areas. NO 4th PIER PETITION

There is a small jackup rig set up about 50 yards offshore there now, and there were guys working on it when we passed it today, so they have started on it.

Meaning......the bribes are not big enough yet. Hopefully they stop this nonsense. There is 4 projects proposed and 3 of them will be windfalls for the Molina family who owns Winjet ferries. They own playa Mia beach club and that is now going to become a private club for royal carribean. The expansions of the ssa pier and 4th pier are for the monster royal carribean ships. The Molina family is the ones behi
nd the 4th pier. Im betting that the Molina family will use a small ferry to take passengers from cruise ships direct to the private beach club and avoid taxis.
