Hey Guys!

So is anyone going up early that would want to lead a dive to the Valliant? Kim and I heard about this wreck and want to get out there. We'll be going over on the 12pm ferry Friday so if we get permission to dive it early Saturday morning may work????

Thanks!
Jen
Hi Jen,

I'm sure we'll get a group together to dive the Valiant on Saturday morning. You have to get permission from the Harbor Master on the morning that you want to dive it, but that should be no problem at this time of the year.

I'll probably see you on Friday afternoon. I'm heading over on the 10:00 am ferry from Long Beach.

Thanks, Scott. I was actually wondering what time they were open on Friday.

I may get a dive or two in on Friday.

I'm on the 2 PM. Will try to get straight out to the park and hook up for a dive at 3:45 or 4. Very interested in diving the Valiant Saturday morning after getting gas back in the can.

I'd love to lead a dive there, but will be on our boat all day. For some reason many of the hotels are sold out this weekend, an d with the good weather it is possible the Harbor Dept. will be using the moorings in Descanso where the Valiant is.

For those who haven't been there recently, I've heard the mooring cans were recently moved slightly. An instructor today told me you can drop right down the chain of one and be about 40' from the bow. The wreck is no longer in the same place relative to the surface buoys. Vis was 40-50' there today from the report.

For those of you arriving Friday afternoon, there is a local event that might be of interest. It is the PLAY School (pre-school) crafts auction fund raiser. This year it is in the Catalina Island Yacht Club (the white building with blue trim just past the Tuna Club on the way out to the Casino).

I believe it begins around 5:00, features a buffet dinner for about $5-6 and you might even make the winning bid on one of my DVD's!

At minimum I'll see you all at the Villa Portofino Sat night although I won't be having dinner, just sneaking sips from everyone's wine glasses!

I'm heading over Friday at 2:30 fron Dana Point... should be a blast... see ya all there!

I'll be on the 2pm boat out of Long Beach...Jim, I'll give ya a call and look for ya. Anxious to perhaps get a dive in at the park late afternoon....:14:

No such luck on the email boat voucher...I did talk to Raul and he said that as long as I have my conf. #, then all is good...:D

See ya guys manana...

Today the dive park was closed so the Island Co. (owners of the Casino) could wash the seagull guano off the roof. There have been concerns expressed by some regarding the potential for airborn diseases due to the thick crust of guano this year. The dive park will be open tomorrow. Personally, I don't worry about bird poop... but in case you do...

I do if its raining down on me from the guys powerwashing it off the roof!

That's great news. In all my years going there, I've never seen it so thick up there. Its funny to look at my pictures of the Casino from other years, and see the difference.

Me and 'Chica will be coming over on the early boat tomorrow. We'll see you this weekend! Jaye is sitting this one out, but she wanted me to say Hi to ya.
