same here, Penny and I are on the 2PM. We'll look for you, I guess you look like spock???

I'll be out of uniform. Wearing blue jeans, blue polo shirt and hiking boots. I'll be pushing a body glove bag and a 130 on a welding cart. Let's organize a dive on the way out.

Hey all, I just wanted to say that I had a great time this weekend!! The diving was excellent, and meeting all of you was even better!

I know I had to leave on the early boat this morning, but I was wishing you all great conditions throughout your dive day. I hope to see lots of pictures and I will post some of mine when I download them...:14:

Hope everyone got back safely..

I just wanted to say thank you all for making this weekend so wonderful. The diving was spactacular and getting to hang out and have dinner with everyone was great. I think I've come back a few pounds heavier but it was WELL worth it :D Thank you for the guided wreck tours Christian and the night dive Jim! :D And as always thanks to my buddies Kim & Jeanine for some really great dives.

Having decent visibility... fantastic
Meeting new dive friends... rewarding, but
Watching the BEARS beat the Giants... priceless!!!!

Enjoyed meeting several new dive enthusiasts, sharing the comraderie at Christian's place (yes, I downed the wine as I edited this evening), and diving with several of you today. Sorry Ken and Claudette about the puncture in my wing. Really wanted to dive the Valiant with you and shoot those nudies!

On my way to San Diego in the morning... on a "slow boat" (assuming my car even starts). Look forward to diving a bit in OC and SD. I'll try the Cove if I can, ChickotSea and DiveKim. Know we're doing Point Loma kelp beds on Sunday if all goes well.

Thanks again to Christian, Ted and all who help make these events happen.

Penny and I had a great time at the weekend at Catalina that Christian organized. We did 6 dives total, and we visited the valient, sujac, metal sailboat, and swim platform..

These were training dives for Penny in her drysuit, and she did great. On dive #1 she didn't realize her neck seal was not attached, and the suit completely filled with water, the undergarment was drenched. However, since it was thinsulate, she barely noticed, other than feeling a little cold. She had no leaks on dives #2-#5.

The first few dives she used her drysuit for buoyancy like they taught her in the Padi, and after a helpful discussion with Michael kane, she switched to using the BCD for buoyancy, and liked that much better.

Lots of people were very helpful with Penny learning her drysuit, especially Kim, Ken K., and MHK. Thanks so much!

Dinners fri & sat night (at armstrongs and Christian's italian restaurant) were great. The people who didn't stay overnight really missed out on some good conversations and bonding. Christian and LA Jim had some great stories about dive buddies from hell. Christian hosted a nice happy hour sat night. Dr Bill even joined us for sat night & sunday diving, which is always a pleasure.

Conditions were the dive park were pretty good, although there was a little swell, and a small current running. vis was 30-40ft, temp 65 at surface, slowly falling to 60 degrees at 90ft.

sat the lines at the fill station were terrible, I couldn't believe how many divers were at the dive park. Sunday was very quiet however. on Sat there were many classes, and GUE had fundies and tech-1 going on. Penny recognized the tech-1 instructor from singapore and they did some homey bonding.

There were a decent amount of fish in the dive park, although i was disappointed not to see any horn sharks, bat rays, eels, or octos. Lots of lobsters were out on the night dive.

So in summary - great weather, great people, great time overall.

Here are some of the photos I took:

Huge thanks to Christian et al for an awesome weekend. Dinner and conversation was outstanding Saturday night. It was great meeting more people from the board, DiveKim, DivingDave? (Jeanine), Scottfiji (though it definately seemed like you had your hands full with the DiveGoddess 1-4), drjet and I'll admit it I'm insanely horrible with names, but it was great meeting you all :D.

Between the four dives we did on Saturday and the late night Sean way beyond tired  so the Sunday dives became a struggle to get packed and to the ferry where he crashed again on the boat, again in the car and again when we got home, aka walking zombie.

Sean and I will have to make it to more Wrinkles events.

B-Boy and I had a great time ! We had two really awesome dives. Some highlights were: discovering a new plaque we'd never seen before coming back from the platform (small memorial to police officer); watching barracuda charging the big bait ball; fly-by from a huge bat ray; playing tug-o-war with a cute little octopi (strong little sucker). Glad to hear that everyone else had some great dives too.

Unfortunately, our dive a eating schedule seemed to be 180deg out of phase with everyone else's (we were diving during other's SI & visa versa). Regardless, it was still nice see and chat with some familiar faces ... meet some new ones. Thanks Scott (CaptainMarvel) for the company on the return trip back to the mainland.

So, did the folks staying at the Seaport see the wild deer that come down to graze on the property in the evenings ? We were visited by them every night in Sept.

This plaque to the police officer interests me. Have been diving the park for years (although very little the past 15 months thanks to SCUBA Luv and the King Neptune!) and haven't seen it. If anyone knows who it is dedicated to, let me know. The only one I'm aware of is the one to Deputy Bill Kroll at Little Gibraltar. Will have to film this one to get "complete" coverage of the park!

Again, great to spend time with all the SB'ers!

Dr Bill, this is what I remember - We took a slight SW heading (~200-210deg) back in from the platform. The plaque was another ~20 yds to our right (W) in ~41FSW. It's near the W park boundary ... possibly even just beyond. The front of the plaque faces ~East. The small picture of the officer is covered with some kind of glass/plexiglass ... with the good viz and lots of ambient light we had, it was a fairly strong reflection that first captured our attention. The words are very difficult to make out, but there is a recognizable date ... 2002 as I recall. It was also difficult to make out the details of City name on the uniform, but it I believe that it started with a letter "T".
