I also vote for Heisler Park.

And don't forget to look at my "items needed" post above to claim the items still needed. :eyebrow:

Heisler! And Deadman's at sunrise!
Hmmmm...Sunrise is ALOT earlier than 7:30am! If we are going to dive Deadman's for the first dive, I would suggest to get there at 6:30am and be in the water by 7:00am. Just because I know ALOT of clubs, as well as classes tend to go to Cresent and Shaw's. A week ago, there were 30 divers on shore between the two coves. It has been in my thoughts to do a very early Night Dive and ascend as the sun is rising at Deadman's. :crafty:

Re Heisler vs Crystal Cove, I was hoping for the later. My thought is the parking situation. Also, there are so many cool things to dive at Crystal Cove. Franko has a new map out for the cove with various things to see. Also, the showers and bathrooms are far superior than that of Heisler. Come on Debbie, the stairs at Crystal Cove aren't any worse than some of the stair sets in Laguna!!! :eyebrow:

I know that Heisler on the other hand will be good for those non-diving SO's that might tag along. Close to shops and the main drag of Laguna, also, close to the main beach. Sooooooo...I will vote for Heisler.

I chatted with Gray Wolf earlier today, and suggested that if anyone wanted to make a dive at Crystal Cove, we could load one car with gear and divers and make a dive there as well. I will be bringing 4 tanks with me, along with air card for LSS.

Looking forward in seeing everyone.

Having never dove in Laguna but having walked the bluff above Divers, Shaws, etc., Crystal Cove was my first thought simply due to the ease of parking, facilities, etc. That being said those from OC know the area better - so I'm happy to go with the flow. Judging by the responses so far that's Heisler

Headhunter please put be down as coming - I'll sign up for the hamburger buns and one dessert.

Look forward to seeing everyone next week.

ok, so it looks like Heisler. I would also be up for doing a dive later in the day at crystal cove.

Last time we dove at Deadman's at 7:30 in the morning, we were the only people there. We could meet a little earlier, but keep in mind that a lot of people will be driving at least an hour.

Ya' think the weather conditions on that infamous Wrinkles morning might have thinned the crowds??? :lightingz That morning confirmed again that sometimes the best rewards go to the truly crazed...some wildman in baggies and flip flops, jumping out of his NY-plated car, laughing at us natives bundled up for winter, "Hey great day for diving...Let's Go!"...hideous weather and great dives...
I would vote for meeting at Deadmansat sunrise (6:30-ish) with coffee :java: , hot chocolate and fistfuls of optimism. Come on Scott...we can sleep more when we're dead!:jump013:
I've never been to Crystal cove, so diving there later would be great. Bringin' all my tanks.
Ciao,

Crystal Cove is a definite. I've never been there either, so I've got to try it. We'll just buzz over there when we can.

In the words of Antoine De Saint-Exupery, "Crystal Cove rocks. I mean it."

I love the idea of doing a single dive at CC.... That's a great one!

True confession: I've never dived Reef Point (Crystal Cove) from the beach. Derek and I tried it once when we were newbies and the conditions sucked that day. He got nailed by a wave and pulled a muscle so our dive there ended. We drove to Crescent or Cress or somewhere else that was an easier entry. I DO remember the hike back up the hill at Reef Point was a killer.

I've been spoiled, diving Reef Point by boat about a zillion times as an OC Coastkeeper volunteer diver. I'd love to try it from the beach too, but once that day will be a good intro. Then we'll know whether to plan an entire day there in the future.
