I've started this new thread for planning purposes.

I'll keep updating this first post as a synopsis of the info in this thread and will include links to other Wrinkles threads for easy reference.

When: Friday Dec. 9th (evening), Saturday, Dec. 10th and Sunday, Dec. 11th
Where: Leo Carrillo

What is the Wrinkles Dive?

This is a monthly gathering of all divers and non-divers in SoCal who can make it. It's a lot of fun involving diving, eating, socializing and now even camping!

It all started when our SoCal member, Wrinkles, mentioned to a group that she dove with that it would be really fun to be able to get together at least once a month. Pasley, took off with the idea and announced the first "Wrinkles Dive". The rest is history!

It's open to everyone of all skill levels from "I'm not certified yet" to "Do we really have to dive the Andrea Doria again?"

We've found this to be a great way to meet our fellow divers locally and many new dive buddies have been found though these "dive soirees".

I've just updated the first post to display the 2006 Wrinkles Dive Calendar instead of 2005.

I'll be there with the crew. Hoping to get there Friday. Looks like check-in is at 2pm. We'll be self sufficient (food, cooking stuff), so don't anyone include us in the count.

Teresa and I will be there. We are planning on Friday evening, Sat, and Sunday. We will bring the water, bananas, and all the condiments. See you there.

I found out about this event from Mel Pasley after we dove Malibu Road on Saturday along with Kevfin. I plan on coming Saturday probably around lunch time - and doing the afternoon and night dive. Might come earlier. I'll have two tanks - HP Steel 100's - how far/where do we have to go to get a fill from there? Let me know what you want me to bring - I'll also sign up to help with errands. etc. Don't know about Sunday yet.

Jim

Checking the list I can bring hamburgers and rolls or anything else. Let me know what you want and how much to bring. There's a Smart and Final near my house and bulk food items for a cookout are always easy to shop for. They've usually got jumbo cans/containers of baked beans, potatoe salad, and all the usual stuff.

Jim

I will be there Saturday morning for the first two dives. May stay for lunch...

I read the list of items (above). I'm near a Smart & Final and can pick up anything you'd like... let me know of any special requests, otherwise I'll bring chips & salsa...

I'm hoping to get in the water at Leo Carillo on Saturday morning. The forcast is calling for a big NW swell...maybe here on Sunday... ??? Check it out:

http://www.17ft.com/
http://facs.scripps.edu/surf/

Friday the 9th this swell will start to back down, but size is still expected to hover around waist to chest high.

Saturday the 10th is looking to start out small, but a significant NW swell will be bearing down on the coast. This will be hitting NCal on Saturday, and fill in during the evening in SoCal, hitting more on Sunday. As such, Saturday may see some forerunners on Saturday, but the real action kicks into gear on Sunday the 11th.

Sunday the 11th is looking like a significant NW swell day. Models this morning feel that two systems will converge in the next couple of days to make for one heck of a swell maker. The first system is off the coast of Japan right now, and in 48 hours, it should mix with a storm dropping down out of the Bering Sea. This system would hold a high latitude, keeping its adverse conditions far to the north. The swell it would bring however should clock in with 16-18 second periods with size potential around head high to 3-feet overhead around west facing breaks. Of course, given the long-period nature of this swell, there will inevitably be variation in size between west facing breaks depending on the bathymetry of each surf spot, and its corresponding shoaling and refraction properties. Also, we do have another couple of days to see how this one plays out, and we’ll need another 48 hours to tighten up the accuracy curve on this one.
