Congrats James!

Also check out Hanauma Bay just past Koko Head crater on the south shore. It's supposed to have great snorkeling.

Enjoy your honeymoon!!

J.

PS: BTW, thanks for your help on the WPB trip, looks like it's going to happen!

James... if you go to Hanauma Bay... be sure you to the toilet bowl and get flushed... totally awesome...

I was lucky enough to spend a large amount of time on Oahu for work (Several months) a few years back. I have been to Hanauma a couple of times, but truly, I prefer Shark's cove.

Less of a crowd. And when it is crowded, it's all divers...

Jedah,

When will you be here?

Thanks guys!

One more question, should we stay in town, or on Singer Island?

Found this seaside Best Western resort on Singer Island for a pretty good price, and from the pics it looks like it's right on the beach. It's also very close to the dive shop. However, we are not sure what we would be missing out on by staying there vs. WPB proper.

J.

It's my understanding that there are no Dive Motels left on Singer Island. The Day's Inn and the Rutlidge are being turned into condo's. If you found a place - your real lucky.

Blue Heron Bridge is still closed for diving, you can only get to it via boat. The park was wiped out by the hurricane and the city is in the process of rebuilding it. I have not heard of anyone being able to dive it yet.

I've been diving out of West Palm for over 10 years - done em all! There is "ONLY" one boat that I would go on down there - Narcosis out of the Riveria Beach Marnia.

And, there are several dive shops in the area. Force E is probably the closest for getting fills. Divers Supply on Northlake and I-95 has every piece of dive bells and whistles you can think of at good prices.

And - for Labor Day Weekend - the boats are Jam Packed - you'll need paid reservations way before the holiday or you will not be able to get on the "Good" boats.

Thanks again for the advice!

James,

We'll be there over Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 3-5). As far as I know, the Best Western Seaspray Inn is still standing (or at least they are taking reservations) and Pura Vida Divers are still diving! We will be making reservations way ahead given the holiday weekend...

We are catching their PM boat and night dive on sat, and the AM and PM boats on sunday. Staying on the beach on monday.

Thanks for all your help!

J.

You can dive the short span of the bridge. You have to go in from the boat ramp and you can't park in the parking lot.

Ditto what Scuba Dad said. I've been diving at the short span of the Blue Heron Blvd bridge multiple times (the last about 2 weeks ago) since the hurricanes. You can't park in the parking lot, however, and must risk getting a ticket for parking along the road.
