I found this old thread. The birth of the lake Lanier Looney birds. I was doing a search on lake Burton,we had a thread going on about the town underneath it,I came across a old map of it showing where homes, stores, post office, graveyards, mill and other things,it had grid coordinates on it so should be able to punch it into a gps unit. the town is located in the upper third of the lake where two rivers come together,I would guess the depths to be under 50 ft just guessing,I had heard the town was down by the dam which would be in the 100ft range, but the map shows different.I have no clue what would be left as the lake has been there since the 1920s. I want to plan a trip up there sometime in the near future.
