Okay, I googled testosterone and hunting. Let's just say there is compelling scientific evidence. If that is not politically acceptable, I cannot dialog anymore because the boundaries are just too artificial. This sort of thing is Time magazine cover story material, you guys. Mainstream science in my opinion.
Is this evidence emphirical of today's male? As I mentioned in an earlier post I think that in the past it was a chemical dependency to achieve the goals of the hunt. By today's standards where hunting is not necessary, I wonder if the drive to hunt and kill can be reduced just to a single biological need.

I do not think "just" but I think mostly....
That's the thing about the extent to which humans are hormonally driven, is that it makes us do things that maybe aren't logical. How do you account for the primary dominance of men in hunting? I wish some biologist's would pipe in. The newest science will force us to rethink a lot about our motives.

Not to sound flippant here, but I wonder how aware men are of hormonal changes versus woman. Woman endure these changes with regularity. Men on the other hand wonder why one day their hair is falling out and they have gotten 20 years older.

Uncle Ricky hunts thread violators!

That last "hunter hater" only lasted 30 minutes...not bad time Rick!

I sure am glad I didn't spend any time making a tactful rebuttal.

Just to set the record straight,
I am not a "hunter-hater", I just don't approve of spearing on scuba. It's great that moderators make sure no one strays from the guidelines and I guess I got carried away. So now you all can delete this post and go back to playing nicely. As long as you don't see any posts that contradict your beliefs, that means everyone agrees with you, right?
Have a nice day.

laughing.....that was kind of my point. To the previous poster, pleeeeeease don't leave me in here by myself!

Ok I'm getting worried I want to spear on scuba some day does all this mean my winky will get smaller or will I just go bald?:1poke: Sorry couldn't resist

Lobster tail costs 45$ a pound at Trader Joe's. (SoCal yuppie market) I have caught 86 lobsters this year, 2-10.5 pounds. I've paid for all my gear and trips in lobster dinners, and my friends think I'm the bomb when they have dinner at my house.

And that is not counting scallops, lingcod, Cabazon, bass....

Bottom line is... the bottom line, I could not afford to enjoy some of the foods I do if I had to buy them. I buy beef and chicken from time to time, but all my seafood I catch/spear.

Like any good science the newest science has created more questions than answers.

There has, since the beginning of time, been a division of labor between man and woman. The men were the hunters, hunting generally requires one to be silent. Some say that is why men don't talk. Women were the gatherers. They made noise as part of a defense mechanism to scare off animals. So women still make too much noise ;)
This was of necessity. Now, as women are given the opportunity to hunt, more often than not as children hunting with their fathers and brothers, more embrace what has been a predominantly male past time. Like so many other predominantly male past times, women are joining the activity. This is a good thing.

There is nothing wrong with you're viewpoint. There are whole countries that agree with you.

It's great that moderators make sure no one strays from the guidelines and I guess I got carried away.

This is what causes problems. If you are capable of checking the emotions at the door and not get carried away you can argue your viewpoint all you want.

So now you all can delete this post and go back to playing nicely. As long as you don't see any posts that contradict your beliefs, that means everyone agrees with you, right?

The self depreciating snide remarks don't work.

Nope. The drive to provide for a mate may be... and the hunting and killing of food critters may flow from that. But despite the pop-culture popular image of man as wanton killer, I know precisely zero who kill to kill. They kill because it is a necessary step in getting the meat on the plate.
