Simply because it's kind of a combination of all of the answers... the thrill, the peacefullness, meeting people, breathing underwater, the challenges... it's just plain awesome.

I decided that I just had too much money. I was thinking about throwing it away or voting democrats into office (libertarian for life), but then I realized that diving is the best way to work oneself into debt. Since I have been so successful in my efforts, I will be taking donations at the following address...

Q. How do you make a small fortune in diving?
A. Start with a large one.

:) Diving has become a hobby and a passion. It's let me get closer to my daughters and share a skill that we've taken up together. The evolution from sheer adrenaline-laced fear of the unknown to the excitement and sense of expectation that we now feel when we dive is remarkable. We actually look forward to diving in our local murky quarry...because it's home!!

Believe it or not, daughter number 1 is basing her 7th grade science project on diving related physics!! Wow am I proud!:D

The experience of near-weightlessness and serenity are very high on my list of why I dive; you really can get away from it all.

For me there is no one reason. I reserve the right to dive for different reasons on different days/dives.

Diva, its always nice to see beautifull woman who dive.

Why do i dive? wow that is such a good question, I have dove [dived] [doven] for some 30 years. so my reasons have changed and evolved over the years.

for several years in my 20's i had such a bad paying job that the only food i ate was what i could spear or catch while diving.

oh and that job was a dive guide/instructor in Hawaii so i have done it for a living

i love diving with large fish and mammals, and have been lucky enough to dive with many.

there was a day when i would do a dive just to get narced, the drug of instructors who don't do other more serious drugs, but need a little something after work.

used to do a lot of diving after the bar closed, back in ther day when drinking and driving was acceptable, that was more of just not wanting the party to be over so everybody would go for a dive. so fun would be the reason

I love wreck diving, deep diving, and remote location diving.

I guess the question is really what does diving do for me.
excitment, adventure, pushing personal limits, exploration, hunger, money, companionship, team spirit.

it just does it for me!!

i'm at peace with myself, body and mind flowing in harmony with the universe. :blfish:

divemistress once bubbled...
i'm at peace with myself, body and mind flowing in harmony with the universe. :blfish:

thats what i ment to say, divemistress you are way more eliquant than me.

the true inter reason i dive. just add the words "and Nature"

The reasons have changed as the years go by. It first started as curiosity and adventure, trying something new and challenging. It then moved to "meeting new people". When that happens, I add a level of adventure to keep it "new and exciting". The next step in my adventures in diving will revolve around wrecks and caves. Not too many around these parts, so that will no doubt involve some travel. (and just when I thought I would start spending less money  )

Never let yourselve get bored, when you do, try something new. Scuba diving has enough to keep most people interested for a life time.

Because I have tons of money, and I find scuba diving a very easy way to lighten the load (so to speak) of all of my money...
Actually I'm an Aquarius and that's what Aquarians do....WATER!!
I love everything about diving (except the costs involved)
