I tried tact with my wife ... I said "No hon ... of course those jeans don't make you look fat. Because you're NOT fat. A little wide, maybe ... but definitely not fat."

She divorced me ...

now Bob every guy knows that you NEVER tell a girl she has a big butt even in the kindest way. We all KNOW we have big butts. its your job to lie to us...:shakehead:when will men ever get on this train?:rofl3:

LOL

now back to your regular debate
ww

Some guys LIKE a woman with a big butt ... especially when it's dressed up in a drysuit. Add in saltwater-plastered hair and a bit of snot hanging out of her nose and I'm looking at my dream girl ... :D

The questions appear to be raised: Is there any real bashing at all?

Or is this just another example of politically correct hypersensitivity, ever-increasing in our social culture?

I think those are legitimate questions, but way off the mark here. This is just about having civil, functional discussions unimpeded by ill-mannered personal attacks.

Full disclosure: When I'm talking face to face with some dive buddies, I love to talk trash, engage in strongly opinionated debates, and use tongue-in-cheek personal put-downs, etc. Camping trips are free-fire zones.... Irreverence is my name.... :D

But, here, we have people of very different backgrounds, often completely unknown to each other, trying to discuss and understand issues through the written word, a daunting task in itself.

Old-time good manners is all this is about, not some new political correctness or hypersensitivity. :)

And good manners are often an early casualty of personality issues.... :shakehead:

Thankfully, good manners are usually displayed intact on ScubaBoard. :)

JMHO.

As a newly certified diver, I PMed a supporting member regarding the chance to buddy with him on vacation. He responded with a lengthy PM back to tell me no then started a thread asking if his response to me was rude. His PM was not. However the ensuing thread was senseless and not necessary.

Montana Diver, I'll dive with you anytime!

Me too. You've got a great attitude. In fact, there's several newer divers on ScubaBoard I'd be real excited to be on vacation with.

We all dive for different reasons. The trick to having an enjoyable experience is finding buddies who's reasons are compatible with your own. That's pretty much true no matter what level of experience you have.

stop that bob, you're getting me way too worked up, now...

Well, just a bit of a tangent, but I think it's genetically encoded that we're supposed to like big butts on women.

Why, you might ask?

Because refrigerators weren't invented until relatively recently on the historical timeline. No joke there. When you consider that, throughout most of human history, a woman could very likely be either pregnant or nursing an infant (or both) during the lean winter months, a fat butt could very well have meant the difference between mother and child surviving until spring or both starving to death. It's really only been the last couple of hundred years or so that we could move and store sufficient food to carry a family through the winter. Before that, a skinny woman was not seen as a good marriage prospect, at least if you wanted a wife that had a decent chance of living long enough to actually wean a child.

So that big butt is a genetic gift from all those women through history that survived and passed along their genes. Fat-bottomed girls made this rockin' world go 'round, and kept humanity alive.

Now, if all those scuba manufacturers would remember that not every scuba-diving woman is built like Barbie, and make wetsuits, skins, and BC's for women with curves...

I am looking forward to being able to get out to Seattle. I would love to dive with You, Lynn and everyone else that I have had the pleasure of increasing my knowledge base. You and of course now Otter make me want to get on SB and DMX 4-6 times per week and learn more about real diving. I spent 25 years as a volunteer ski patroller and during that time I spent many years retraining the importance of basic skills. To me, life is all about passing on my experience in the hopes that others will not have to face the same setbacks and tribulations that I have. WOW, that sounded too DEEP! I see the same qualities in you and would love to have the opportunity to dive with you or have you mentor me to better diving. Your attitude ROCKS! You are what we need to teach the next generation of divers. Wow, enough already.

I am hoping to get to BC this summer for a wedding. Don't have any specifics, but it would be a great opportunity to rinse all the fresh water off my DUI. This might be the closest I get to Seattle unless my son gets rehired in the area after completing his MS.

Thanks, probably not there or here, how about meeting half way.....say Cozumel or Maui....those seem about half way from frozen.

We have been below freezing for the past 10 days, hard to think about diving. I do get an hour of pool time to assist my AOW instructor with a high school group. Gets me wet, but I do hate the chlorine. Does allow me time to remember how to dive in a 2/3 mm wetsuit with an AL80. Most of my MT diving is DUI, 400 g underwear and steel tanks.

When you do look us up in the western canada sub forum. We have a great core of SB divers that get out with each other quite often.
