Thanks for all of the replies! I was surprised the atomic didn't even get one vote! I am still a little indecisive but I've narrowed it down a bit....:hmmm:

Hi
i have 2 DS4's and 2 ATX200's. And had Mares Abbys and MK25-S600. I would say if you are ONLY doing warm dives, go for the MK25 on the other hand these babes are expensive in maintainance. If you want a better performer that is a little more expensieve but then again cheaper in maintainance get your self a ATX200. This babe kick but's every other reg at depth!

If you wanna do a budget buy but dont want to give up much performance AND ANY reliability! (i mean safety) defenitly go for Apeks TX50 (DS4 version, not the swivel!!! with the non standard port). DS4 is also THE choice of Cave and Tech divers around the world. ABout the service: Apeks is so easy to service that even monkey can do it with closed eyes. Every Aqualung / and especially Zeagle dealer can do this easily for you. If you want more info. why the Apeks is such a good performer just drop a line at www.dirquest.com or check the earlier post about : Mares Abbys VS APeks. http://www.scubaboard.com/t11600/s.html

Good luck, xerxes

I use the MK20 with S600 as primary and G250 as backup.

I like the way that both the S600 and the G250 perform but the S600 is more difficult to setup so make sure you take it to a service tech that knows their stuff.

I'll be buying 2 more MK20/25's with G250 seconds for tech diving. This is mainly due to the fact that I know I can get these serviced almost anywhere and that I only have to maintain one common spares kit.

I also know that SP service parts are fairly cheap and that they use common components for most of their reg range.

In summary, if your planning on travelling/living in different countries then check out the availability of Apeks servicing.

Hope this helps - Dave.

PS// I'm buying Dive Rite gear (classic wings) over Halcyon for the same reason. DR is easily available and is serviced here in Oz and Asia - not too sure the same is true about Halcyon!!

Uncle Pug once bubbled...
...and I don't mind that they breath wet.
Just outta curiosity UP which ones do you use?

I recently purchased an Oceanic Delta 3 regulator. The main reason I chose this regulator was the oustanding price/performance ratings that various publications constantly give to the Delta 3. So budget figured into my decision.

And I'm very happy I chose this regulator. It breathes great, is very comfortable, and has a solid reputation for reliability.

I did a lot of research and considered a number of other brands before making my purchase. I also considered the Apeks TX50 and various Scubapro regulators. All of them have great reputations so I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the brands you listed. But you might also check into the Oceanic Delta 3.

I have a MK25/S600 and think it's great, no change in breathing effort regardless of depth. I've used it in 40-45 degree water with no problems. According to the tests, this is the highest performing reg available. ScubaPro parts are a lot more common if you travel, and if you keep your reg in warranty, expense is low. By the way, a lot of people really like the MK25/D400 combo...even more than the MK25/S600 setup.
