Oh how I wish I had known . . .
 
I wish I had bought EVERY piece of gear or at least a full set of what ever was available 30 years ago and started diving way earlier than I did.
 
atomic reg with the swivel mouthpiece and spring straps for fins.

That "custom" LDS brand abomination of a BC, that came all custom sized and made to match my measurements and so big on me that I could wriggle free at depth without touching the cinched down straps, was a $600 hard lesson learned.:lotsalove:
 
So far:
#1: spring straps.
#2 Gauge reader mask.
I'm enjoying having my own gear A LOT, and recommend it, but if I had to prioritize,
especially wrt cost/benefit, those are at the top.
 
Hmmmm.... not sure, I would have to say my Cressi Back-Jack back inflation BC. I really like the performance and streamlined style of the back inflation!

**EDIT** Even more then that my Atomic regulator set. That puppy breathes soo easy.
