Whats wrong with DIR

And WKPP is not a "for the cave divers, by the cave divers" organization like CDS is either. Our stated aim and purpise is to conduct research in the WKP- which we do quite well. We have NO OTHER purpose for existance. If all the other cave divers out there who whine about the limited access sites want to dive them- there are steps they can take toward that aim. If however, they are too lazy to do so.. well- it's not the WKPP's fault now is it?

The whole reason I got into this thread was because of Eric's post suggesting that the WKPP and the CDS both have control of sites for the same reason, which is false. The WKPP has control of thier sites to do research, which has greatly limited access, the CDS has control of thier sites to keep them open to the general cave diving population, which is why I favor one organization over the other.

There are no sites that are DIR only. Period. No caves, no wrecks, no beach dives.

The WKPP is a different organization from GUE. I'm trained GUE, and I don't have access to the WKPP. Which is fine with me, but that's another issue.

Before you start screaming about closed DIR sites, get your information correct.

I know that's difficult for you, but try it. It makes you look somewhat informed when you post.

besides I didn't say GUE, I said DIR. Are you now going to say GI3 isn't DIR????

Ahhh... but just because you are DIR, does not automatically mean you can dive the WKPP...

DIR is a style and system. It is not a ticket to the WKPP. I dive DIR and can't dive with the WKPP.

I belong to GUE and don't have a ticket to the WKPP.

The WKPP is a distinct and seperate organization. Period.

Yes they do... they won't let anyone in the door if they don't dive DIR regardless of skill level.

Think of it as a private country club. Doesn't matter how well you play golf, but if you don't have the cash to join then you can't get in and play. No exceptions.

You always have a choice to go elsewhere. Lots of other places to play.

In this case, it's not cash, but DIR. WKPP made the deal with the landowners and you have to play by their rules. They made the effort and succeeded. They only dive DIR. No exceptions.

As CD implied, spend the effort and get yourself in good graces with the landowners. They might let you dive there also. UNtil then, you need to join the country club.
