Now come on! To become an NSS-CDS member, go here:

https://www.dayo.net/secure/cds/mbrformy.htm

Fill out the form, put down your $30 (which is about what you'd pay to get into Ginnie once) and you could probably get into any one of these sites next week (with the requisite experience):

http://www.nsscds.com/Divesites.htm

Now... show me how to get into any of GUEs sites... oh... wait... they haven't ponied up to protect any like the CDS. Well... show me how to get into any of the WKPPs sites... oh... wait... they don't own any sites either, and the ones they dive in they keep to themselves.

The NACD and the NSS-CDS are looking out for every cave diver, GUE and WKPP are only looking out for themselves and using your money to do it.

Ben

Ben- you are a nice kid, but Please please please get a clue! The only people who pay WKPP dues are WKPP members- so I fail to see how ".... WKPP are looking out for themselves and using your money to do it." Further- if they weren;t open to WKPP- I doubt these sites would be open to anyone! THe owners (the state included) don't want people diving them- the only reason WKPP has access is because we provide legitimate research.
THanks.

You've really just succeeded in pointing out that he is open minded enough to have evolved as a diver in the last four years.

No, I pointed out that history repeats itself. He became what he didn't like and can't understand why others disaprove.

That might be what you were "trying" to point out ;)

Well thanks, I will take that as a compliment... anyway, on to the answers...

Last time I checked Wakulla and Sally Ward are on state property, no doubt purchased with taxpayers money, and, lo and behold, I'm a taxpayer.

Well... the Boyscouts didn't want divers at Diepolder, the FFWCC didn't want divers at Eagles Nest, but cave divers have access to those sites, why not any of the WKPP controlled sites?

It was in rec.scuba, and you should be able to find it, "Drew A. Dunn" posted to the thread.

You're right I did post to it. But no where in that thread was it decided (or even suggested) that a seperate dir forum/newgroups would be bad for GUE. All that happened was the standard r.s insults and cutdowns.

Chris you need to grow up. I'm getting pretty sick of listening to your petty trash talk. What do those old posts from Kane prove, huh? They showed that 4 or 5 years ago he didn't like DIR but was able to open his mind and give it a fair shot. I'm not saying DIR is the best thing for you or anybody. You might very well give DIR a chance and decide you don't like it. But you'll never be able to if you don't open your mind and give it fair chance. Until then you'll continue to make fool out of yourself.

Rearrange your cotton, Chris. But at the very least leave rec.scuba where it belongs.

OK Ben- fromhere, it's simple- remember that these sites HAVE NEVER been open to the public. THey were always closed, and WKPP contacted the owners and requested permission to dive for the purpose of conducting scientific research, we put in place a safety program, purchased liability insurance, and established a set of protocols. Next, we actually have been doing ongoing research all this time, and provide research data and results to the owners and others. Put together your own team and proposals, jump through all the hoops, and beg the owners to let you dive there.

Good luck.

Nah... that's ok, I have no desire to conduct research, I just want to dive, the NSS-CDS is working to keep dive sites open and gain access to closed ones, the WKPP is not, simple as that.

And WKPP is not a "for the cave divers, by the cave divers" organization like CDS is either. Our stated aim and purpise is to conduct research in the WKP- which we do quite well. We have NO OTHER purpose for existance. If all the other cave divers out there who whine about the limited access sites want to dive them- there are steps they can take toward that aim. If however, they are too lazy to do so.. well- it's not the WKPP's fault now is it?

HEY...BACKUP HERE PEOPLE!!!

You are bordering on sensible discussion, there will be none of that here.....Move along...move along

So someone who wants to dive - but not be a research guinea pig or hump stage tanks for some King - is "lazy"?

An odd definition you've got there.....
