For those in the know, my nick indicates my bias 
. I'd have to say that hands-down it's the Honda Element. I haven't done any diving from mine, but when I moved recently, the fact that I could get all of my stuff in it helped out a lot. It seems to be the perfect vehicle for the diving climate that I primarily undertake; namely cave diving in the Yucatan.
For those that say that it is a gas hog, there is much debate as to the fuel consumption issue over on the EOC forums for Element owners, the biggest factor being driving style. Personal experience yields around 20-24 mpg consistently. In fact, on a recent roadtrip to Columbus, OH, I had three friends and their bags in my car, averaged about 70 mph the entire way and got roughly 26 mpg once I calculated the fuel consumption. I have a friend who had an '03 CR-V (same frame and engine series) and for some reason, my gas mileage was consistently better than his.

i caught 3 rabbits. With my diesel f-250 I can tow/haul just about anything, I can get upto 22+mpg on the highway, and I caught the "badass truck" rabit. The only drawback is price.
I bought a old Cherokee for about $350. Living in Hawaii, where everything hill is a mountain, I was able to take 18 tanks, and 3 divers with gear. Had a little issue getting up some of the hills, but she always made it. With less gear than that she was great, ran fine, cheap as hell, didn't cost me a cent to insure either.

Old Cherokees are great, I've owned a few(both Regular and Grands) My wife has a Liberty and it makes a good Dive Vehicle for 1 or 2 Divers.
I mostly see SUV's, MiniVans and Trucks with a topper as Dive Vehicles here in Canada.
