I will be buying my first deco reg soon and have been checking several out online.

Is it worth buying a reg that comes o2 cleaned for deco like aqualung calypso or the dive rite rig that i see on scuba toys? Or just get any reg and get it cleaned?
I think I will get it from my lds so that I can take advantage of the free parts for life programs, it kind of pays for itself after a few years...

I was thinking of the HOG reg, but it is the only one that says it is only good on pure o2 up to 2400psi. Never having bought o2 I am unfamiliar with if that is normal or not, maybe someone could shed some light on that for me.

Thanks!!

Mares has a 100% O2 ready reg for not too much $. you will of course die using it, but it is cheap :D (I have one) :)

I use the Hollis H-02 210 Regulator. (on my O2 or highest nitrox mix)

I think its hard to beat the Dive Rite O2 Rig setup.

Are you planning on boosting O2 into your deco bottle? Most supplier bottles of O2 come at 2400 PSI so unless your gas supplier is going to boost you will get between 2000 - 2400 PSI in your deco bottle.

I would buy the same regs as you already own that way if you ever need to mix n match they are all the same and there won't be any problems.

I use Apeks DST - just bought a HOG coldwater D1 on black friday special but haven't got it to try yet

Absolutely spot on advice. Just about anything will work as a deco reg - make your life easy when it comes to overhauls and maintenence.

All the best, James

honestly, I use an unbalanced and cheap dr reg. It works GREAT, breathes fantastic, and is very simple to take apart and service.

make sure you don't buy a reg for deco made with titanium though...

But not everything. Some regulators are specifically not to be used with high O2 mixtures.
