Similar experience here: i bought a package of mask, fins, booties from them when i first started and even though they were packaged together the booties were visibly scuffed. While the guy on the phone wasn't the most jovial individual, they exchanged them for new ones (actually they exchanged them for a more expensive model) with no questions asked.

I buy stuff from them from time to time, and all my experiences since have been fine. I particularly like their return policy. On the other hand, i've never bought anything as substantive as a computer from them.

While the guy on the phone wasn't the most jovial individual,

lol, yea, I always ask them about that. I think it a NYC thang.
I think their warranty is more hassle free than most manufacturers.

DennisS:
Should have put a :D with that, it's like Easter, right?

Uhm, no. easter is not a holiday I'd expect them to observe, not even close. I hate easter.

The Passover is special, it's important, it's real. It's not a holiday made up to sway a group of people. Read Exodus in the scripture if you really want to know what it's about.

IMO I respect a business that respects "real" holidays instead of the man made ones designed to sell goods or sway pagans. It's refreshing to see a company actually willing to lose money by being closed for a period of time. Rare to boot.

I'm not Jewish, but I've got friends that are and believe me, passover is very real to them. It's a serious event.

You know... At first I thought you kinda have a valid point.

You buy a Aqualung regulator from an authorized dealer, you have to have it serviced every year to keep it in warranty. But it doesn't appear that is the case with the Leisure Pro warranty that you have to have it annually serviced.

The only bad thing it appears is that you have to actually send in your LP warranty card within 30 days or your warranty if void. Anyone had experience with LP and a warranty with something that you didn't send the card in for?

Here's the funny thing about the warranty:

Limatations:
#2 If the equipment has been service by other than a certified center

They require any work to be done by a 'certified center' (authorized dealer or dealer certified in working on that equipment I guess) or it voids your warranty, yet they are not a 'certified center' for most of the products they sell.

go figure huh?

I'll make sure I send in the card on my D-200 housing when I spring for it, thanks for pointing that out. I returned a piece to my dome port without the card...maybe they reserve the right to NOT cover the warranty if you don't? I could be mistaken, BUT I always get the feeling they are looking at my order history when I talk to them. They act like they can see that I have ordered consistently from them, not positive, but I think so...because they will refer to past orders sometimes.

All orders are confirmed via e-mail as a reciept, it makes it easy for me to just "search my inbox" for any documentaion I need.

I've had a similar experience with LP. I bought a BC from them that appeared to be used and was an outdated model when it arived. The picture of the BC on their site didn't look quite right, so I was a little worried to begin with. The salseperson assured me that it was just an old picture and I would it woulod be a new one. Well, it wasn't. It was a model that was about 7 years old that had been retrofitted with the current weight system. Just sent it back and I had my money back within a couple of days. I bought a buch of other equipment from them and it is all great. I guess sometimes they try to scam you, but when you call them on it they don't argue. OK you caught me seems to be their attitude.

I was really pissed off when I got my BC, but their prices are so low that I'll probably risk shopping with them in the future. I just won't hesitate to send anything back that is not exactly as it should be. It's like everyone seems to be saying. LP has great prices, but keep in mind who you're dealing with.

I have had some rough times with LP and other websites. I now hunt down a lds that carries what i want. The worst was ordering a flashlight and it coming without the bulb or reflector. $20 waterproof battery case. I have heard of people who bought a computer on ebay that was stuck in emergency deco whenever it got wet. But there are others out there that I have seen close friends order items and have great help. I ordered Something with DSS and have only regreted not gettting everything I would have wanted at once.

WOW....this is amazing....So many people on here are complacent with bad service, as long as the price is cheap.....Why not have both?? Just because the price is cheap doesnt mean they should try to rip you off by sending the wrong equipment, treat you as they do on the phone, or as has been said numerous times....try and rip you off. The funny thing is that they wont change how they treat you because it obviously doesnt matter....you will still give them your money!! I really dont understand that, when I spend money somewhere I want it to mean something to the person Im spending it with....if I dont feel that...they dont get my money....Im not trying in anyway to bash leisure pro, hell I applaud them.....somehow they are able to treat you guys horrible, yet you still go back for them to "sometimes try and scam you".......but save $20.......Maybe its just the customer service in me......but this sounds like a doctor suess poem...all mixed up

".......but save $20

I get your point, but in Hawaii it's alot more than 20 dollars!
I sometimes save hundreds. Check an Ikelite dealer and then check LP.

Plus the shops here are "here today and gone tomorrow", I don't think LP is going anywhere.

I have to say, if all things are equal (as in I know nothing and have to take a stab at it) and I am looking for something, I will call a midwest company. They have excellent customer service compared to other regions I have found.....like the Halcyon dealer in Michigan, for example.

I have had great luck with Leisurepro. All of my gear has come from them. That being said, I had a customer service job with lots of clients in NYC- they do business a little differently there. Most of my NYC customers had a brusque demeanor. As long as they took care of me fairly, well, I didn't mind.

Being closed for the holiday also is very common, as there are a lot of businesses in NYC that observe the Jewish holidays. But hey, then you can do business with them at Easter, and Christmas Eve!
