LP's stuff is very cheap....I have not had a bad experience and did not need to return anything. I even got my D9 from them. The only issue I had was the BC I bought did not come with the weight pouches...they sent those out immediately.

The guy on the phone was not rude and neither was he very polite. However, the speed at which they got things sorted out was amazing. I asked for an emailed invoice and got it in 2 mins. My order was put together in less than a day and shipped out.

I get an online price from LP then drop it on Larry or Joe and then mention the SB 10%. Great friendly service and always ship fast to APOs.

Having said this, LP often has time sensitive drop-your-beer-add to-shopping-cart-buy-friggin-now prices that cannot be resisted.
At least by me.

I read the first page of post. I initially decided to read the thread thinking that maybe somebody is trying to give LP bad press because ST recently got some. Typically I ignore this type whine and cheese but every now and then I need to punish myself. I usually start to reply, get half finished with the post and then say "*&^^ it. Not worth my time". But this time I will finish and hit the "post quick reply"

I have used both of the mentioned internet companys and have received good and bad from both. Both have delayed my shipment by at least 2 weeks on certain orders due to certain excuses. Was pissed....no....I completely expected it cause I can't touch it, I can't see it, I can't try it, I can't see the eyes of the sales person, I can't see the good/bad housekeeping of the shop, I can't walk out of the store with it. And most importantly there are too many variables that I put my trust in. Humans make alot of mistakes. BUT I GET A CHEAPER PRICE.

Consumers are at risk when purchasing products on the internet. We certainly are a trusting people....we trust that the order person is going to correctly read my order and not make a mistake. We trust that the printer the person uses is going to print all fonts correctly so that when it is given to the stock person the proper size, color and model will be thrown into the basket. We trust that his aim is good and the product goes into the proper basket and not the basket that is going to "where ever". We trust that the person you packs the box puts all the items in the box. We trust that the person entering the shipping address doesn't mistake a 4 for a 9 or a 2 for 5 on the zip code. We trust that the credit card machine is working properly. We trust we the consumer, has paid our credit card on time so that it will not be rejected. (I say this cause my order was delayed and ST could not figure out why so they replied to me on the phone "wait, let me look into the rejected credit card pile". My card was not rejected). We trust that there is not a thunderstorm and DFW delaying cargo flights. We trust that our package is not going to end up in Adak, Alaska due to the misread zip code. We certainly are a trusting people when using the internet.

So if you did not properly prepare for your trip and order last minute items needed from the internet and then don't get them on time. YOUR FAULT.

If you order something then don't get it on time cause your credit card was rejected. YOUR FAULT.

If you order something and the wrong item came and you did not call the company to ensure accuracy prior to shipping. YOUR FAULT

If you did not fully read the entire web site including the fine print and something is wrong with your order. YOUR FAULT.

If you don't follow clearly written procedures and your order is incorrect. YOUR FAULT.

If you cannot touch it, feel it or try it and you receive it from and internet company then don't like it. YOUR FAULT

I am not sympathetic to internet buyers that complain about the service. Usually if the order is messed up it is due to our own fault and complete trusting of these people that we cannot see. IT IS ALL OUR FAULT.

WOW....this is amazing....So many people on here are complacent with bad service, as long as the price is cheap.....Why not have both??

That is a good point.

Many of the Dive Shops on Scubaboard and some LDS's will price match Leisure Pro's price. My LDS will. That and you get better service and are buying from a fully auhtorized dealer with full factory warranty.

I rarely have to buy anything anywhere else now days because of this.

If all LDS's took this philosophy, you'd hear very little about Leisure Pro.

What's LP's price for air? You guys better start buying your own compressors from LP because if you keep this up there won't be any local dive shops to fill tanks, or they will have to charge $15 for an 80cf fill to stay in business. Won't that be nice?

Blah blah blah. Sounds like you better sign up for job displacement training.

Leisure Pro has a good reputation, a gigantic inventory, and much more aggressive pricing than some online stores. Their agressive pricing is the result of having to go the "extra mile" because they don't enjoy the blessing of the scuba manufacturers. In fact, they are working hard to overturn their "bad boys of scuba" image....they are working hard to be allowed geniune dealerships from the scuba companies.

I applaud them for observance of their religious holidays. After all, we observe ours. They cannot be faulted for this.

Over the past 6 or 7 years, they have come under increasing pressure from the many factory authorized dealers that operate competitive scuba online stores. Some of these stores are beginning to approach parity with Leisure Pro on the width of the inventory offering. This pressure will only continue to increase.

Buyers now have the option of getting matching prices from the authorized online dealers. You will never see the posted prices on every item as low on the authorized sites as you do on the Leisure Pro site. Unfortunately, most of the authorized online scuba stores have slightly higher costs of doing business than Leisure Pro and therefore have a slightly less aggressive pricing model. The Guaranteed Price Matching policy that most have give you the opportunity to do your research and get a matching price, no matter where you find the item. Maybe it might be worth your time to begin to look more closely at the authorized online stores. They are getting easier and easier to find. Thanks.

It isn't just the internet. Most divers trust their LDS as well. They trust the air they are getting is clean. They trust the owner changes the filters in the compressor even though they never see it happen. They seldom bother to check the certifications, inspections, and test results. They drop their regs off for service and say call me when ready. They don't watch the tech do the job or even ask the credentials of the tech.

Scubaboard is full of threads from people who have had big problems with their LDS, even potentially life threatening problems like regulators falling apart under water. I'll bet there are 10 times more problems here with an LDS than an online retailer. So be careful about grabbing onto a few bad online experiences and drawing general conclusions.

Catherine, I completely understand...Hawaii is unfortunately a different beast.....As for compressors...you looking for a portable, or a big guy? I jjust brought in a portable line, havent had a chance to upload to internet, and I happen to have a spare compressor(big one) sitting at the shop......The only thing is I think shipping might be a miserable thing to look at...Hope all is well!

As for the same old " buy your air" line......like hound said blah blah......Its those same LDSs that are driving people to LP and such....if they had good customer service and didnt try to sell everything at MSRP and such they wouldnt lose the business. The thing that gets me as those that dont even try to get the same price from the LDS or a close price, they are just fine with doing it at the computer. Not that there is anything wrong with this, but like shellback said.....sometimes things go bad and you get what you pay for....Im not trying to sway anything, I have an online store and a physical store like the others, granted Im alot newer, but as far as pricing, Im deadon on 99% of things....and I dont do millions of dollars a year on the internet like the ones mentioned.....:D So come on guys buy from me ;) jk....but the thing that gets me about most stores is that they sell their prices way to high.....sending people online.....WAKEUP retailers!!! Price your instore merchandise to the internet....people will then come to you instead and you will get more business, because people DO want to buy local, buy from a person they see and talk to, someone that gives GOOD service, etc......Damn....I always get sucked into these talks ;)

WOW....this is amazing....So many people on here are complacent with bad service, as long as the price is cheap.....Why not have both?? Just because the price is cheap doesnt mean they should try to rip you off by sending the wrong equipment, treat you as they do on the phone, or as has been said numerous times....try and rip you off. The funny thing is that they wont change how they treat you because it obviously doesnt matter....you will still give them your money!! I really dont understand that, when I spend money somewhere I want it to mean something to the person Im spending it with....if I dont feel that...they dont get my money....Im not trying in anyway to bash leisure pro, hell I applaud them.....somehow they are able to treat you guys horrible, yet you still go back for them to "sometimes try and scam you".......but save $20.......Maybe its just the customer service in me......but this sounds like a doctor suess poem...all mixed up

It's kinda like going to McDonalds for lunch. Most of the time you get what you order but I will bet everyone reading this had had them screw up their order at one time or another. Do people stop going to McDonalds? Not as long as you can get a double cheeseburger, fries, and soda for $2.98! When you are saving that much money you will put up with the occasional blunder.

With the amount of money you save when compared to the list price or even the 10% off list price that allot of shops try to peddle, you can do just that! ;)
