what do you wear under your wetsuit?

Would it be possible to put an open cell wetsuit over a sharkskin? What about putting on a sharkskin over a wetsuit? Isn't it challenging to pull a snug-fitting wetsuit over a sharkskin?

Sharkskin under an open cell wetsuit would be counterproductive in terms of thermal protection and I imagine next to useless over the top.

why the lycra socks?

I dont use lycra, I use bombas merino wool ankle socks. They dont get cold and they prevent me from getting blisters all over my toes!

Thermal shorts (eg O'Neill Thermo-X) or jammers. Just don't do budgie smugglers and, as others have said, board shorts bunch up.
Sometimes also wear my lavacore vest underneath the wetsuit for a little extra insulation if needed.

For really warm water I just wear the above under board shorts and rashvest.

In the summer I just wear shorts. My last dive a couple of days ago, I wore a long sleeve nano wool shirt. That offset the small decrease in water temp.
