This is the first season, since I started playing, that I'm not on a hockey team. Not by choice, our team kind of fell apart and a new guy took over and pulled a Glen Sather on me.

BUT...

As much as I like playing, I don't really miss it. I don't feel beat to hell in work all week after late games almost every week. I don't miss the self proclamed superstars who think they're in the NHL, and hey I have more $$$ for diving now!!!

ah.... i read this board... and on my spare time:

i work
i hang out with my wife
i walk on the beach with my wife
i feed five cats
i clean up after five cats
i read this board

CALI68:
Martial Arts.

I'm supposed to be intensly focused on training for my second degree Black Belt test in May but all I can think about is diving!

Damn, I wish I was in the water right now (there I go again)

I do Martial Arts too,.. although I stopped for about a year an just now trying to get back... it's not easy,.. especially when weekends are pretty much dedicated to diving.

I try to walk about 2 or 3 times and week, and I also like to kick a football (soccer ball for you Yanks -- LOL) around now and then. Alas, my playing days are long over, but I still like to play a little in the backyard.

As for other activities, I like to travel; visit aquariums, museums and art galleries; listen to music; go to theatrical productions and musicals and shop.

Windtunnelflying!!!

I used to live in Orlando where I always flew, and if there was a tunnel in Amsterdam right now, they'd probably get half of my salary every month...not kidding.

Diving is a big passion for me, but flying has my heart.

Other than that, skydiving, wakeboarding, underwater photography, collecting european comicbooks, and riding the Yamaha Dragstar XVS650 I had to sell (I'll get one back some day)...

When I am not up at my camp, I am thinking about my camp.

Up on the mountain in a little town called Woodford VT, I have a cabin and 10 acres of land. Electricity is by gas generator. Collected rain water is used for the toilet and shower.

With the help of friends and family we built the cabin by hand. I wish I could live there but I have to work. I suppose if I were there all the time it wouldn't be so special.

Other than diving, I lift weights three times a week, run twice a week. I go to martial arts training twice a week.
Ride my Harley when I have a chance.
Go camping with the family when the weather is nice.
Have a nice drink and cigar every weekend.

Lastly, spend alot of time figuring out how to pay for all my scuba gear!

I love anything that has to deal with the outside :mostlysun - Sailing my Catamarans, Scuba Diving, Horseback Riding, Fossil Hunting, Sky-Diving, Cycling, & Ocean Kayaking are just some of my hobbies. Add a woman, kid & 3 dogs and you only have so much time for hobbies :outtahere

For me, crewing for a hot air balloon is my other major hobby. Also work a lot on my house getting it restored. Diving doesn't seem to have taken away from either one of them since I make free time for what ever I want to do.

Here's a 2 part question:

1- What other sports hobbies do you have?
2- How many of you do those other things a lot less or not at all since getting your cert?

I used to bike a lot, at least 3 times a week, a few hundred miles every summer. In 2000 my sister and brother in law road accross country, and I took about a month off work, flew out to meet them, and road 1000 miles in from Albuquerque to Salt Lake. Last summer I think I had the bike out about 3 times!

I play hockey too. Used to play on about 2-3 teams, was anal about my equipment. If a stick got the tiniest chip, it got a new blade, little scuff on my shield and I got a new one, retape everything before every game. Now I play one night a week, the blades on my sticks look like they've been through a wood chipper, and if my shield gets much worse I won't even be able to see through it anymore!

depands on what time of the year it is in the summer i dive and fish in the winter i play football i bowl.
