Somewhere in South America as I haven't dived that continent (and I don't count the Galapagos as being on that continent) followed by the Maldives and Socorro

I retire at the end of this year. My tentative plan for 2019 is a road trip from Seattle to as far down the west coast of South America as I can get. I do plan on bringing my scuba gear. I also plan for the trip to last roughly a year ... perhaps longer if I find someplace interesting to spend some time in.

Can I hitch hike with you? I’ll carry your gears :D

I plan to go alone. I'm currently planning a preliminary road trip from Cabo to San Diego, at the end of my Socorros trip in May ... gonna take a couple weeks and explore the peninsula ...

Just be careful out there with all the drug lord fighting for territory. I’m booked for Socorro with Nautilus Under Sea in December this year. I’m a bit leery with all those news about people finding some dead bodies on the road side. I’m planning to just go straight from the SJD airport to the boat on the outbound & the same to the inbound. No plan to hang around in Cabo San Lucas, especially at night in the local bar.

Just saw a news about Acapulco being a ghost town after the drug lord taking over the area. Scarry place to hang around there now.

... we're going on the same boat ... May 9-18 ...

My trip will be on Dec 22-30 :)

Please post your trip report afterwards.

Thanks!
Dan

Galápagos belongs to Ecuador and Ecuador is in South America. Galápagos is only 677 miles from Guayaquil.

But I don't consider it a continental S.A. dive, just a political S.A.destination

I saw mostly the same kind of fish in Galápagos ad those that I saw in Sea of Cortez. I would think Eastern Pacific region is pretty much similar.

Western Pacific, such as Palau & Raja Ampat, however, is much different than the Eastern Pacific, even though they share the same Pacific Ocean.

Yikes! I just check the roundtrip flights from Houston to San Jose del Cabo from Dec 22, 2018 to Jan 1, 2019. United Airlines is offering for $2,202.

How much is yours, Bob?
