Yikes! I just check the roundtrip flights from Houston to San Jose del Cabo from Dec 22, 2018 to Jan 1, 2019. United Airlines is offering for $2,202.

How much is yours, Bob?
It's far too early to be taking prices at their word. Put an alert on it and watch the prices. I usually buy my December flights in late August, if travel is near Xmas and will book even later, if no Xmas overlap.

I retire at the end of this year. My tentative plan for 2019 is a road trip from Seattle to as far down the west coast of South America as I can get. I do plan on bringing my scuba gear. I also plan for the trip to last roughly a year ... perhaps longer if I find someplace interesting to spend some time in.

How do you plan to get your vehicle from Panama to South America?

Thanks for the tip, Chilly!

I’ll wait till then & check on it once a month.

... $197, SEA to SJD ... but I'm only going one way. I haven't yet booked my return flight, as I haven't finished making my plans yet ...

Haven't gotten that far in my plans yet. I assumed there'd be a ferry to Cartegena or something. I know it's a long way, but we have ferries going between Seattle and Alaska, and that's a lot farther.

Thanks for asking ... I'll have to look into it.

Am I missing something? You can drive across the canal.

Edit: Turns out I was missing something: the Darien Gap. You learn something new every day.

I saw mostly the same kind of fish in Galápagos ad those that I saw in Sea of Cortez. I would think Eastern Pacific region is pretty much similar.

Western Pacific, such as Palau & Raja Ampat, however, is much different than the Eastern Pacific, even though they share the same Pacific Ocean.

Been there, done that (Sea of Cortez, Palau, Philippines, SE Asia)
