I was looking at the Siren, but all that kept coming up was some issues with the fleet a while back. (People always post about the bad stuff). So, I kind of nixed it at the time. It was a long time ago, I assume things are a lot better?
I'm not sure of the bad stuff you are referring to...is it the sinking of the Siren in 2015? Anyway...I had no issues. It was a lovely Indonesian-style phinsi with a lovely crew. I liked it very much. A note...Palau is getting stricter with the standards for their dive boats and it is not feasible for the Palau Siren to comply. As such...the boat is moving to Philippines next year.

Interesting- what specific recommendations are they unable to comply with?
Not sure about the details. The cruise director indicated that the rules would be really expensive and difficult for a wooden boat to comply with (which the Siren is). So...my guess is that it probably has to do with hull integrity requirements. Again...nothing wrong with the Palau Siren...it is an Indonesian phinsi that you see everywhere in Indonesia.
