What are the police doing to end the crime on Bonaire? - thread split

You see taking stuff like sandals, glasses, towels and sunscreen from a rental car the equivalent to a hotel room break- in, where they still cash, passports, ipods, regs and clothes from a room were people are sleeping?:shocked2:

I've heard it twice in the last 2 weeks . The first was an Epc fail....the second one still lives.

This must be a time when people aren't diving. I read this whole tread and what I learned was that Pilot Fish has an issue with Bonnaire! 19 pages later we have learned that lots of people have interesting counter points, but PF still has an issue with both Bonnaire and has an issue with each and every person who posts on this thread!

Maybe it's time to back away from the keyboard and jump in something wet and give the keyboard a chance to cool off.....

You will find threads on accommodations, dining, diving, getting around, webcams, trip reports, photography, local items, etc. It really is an objective wealth of knowledge for anyone thinking about diving Bonaire, or just visiting to explore its other natural wonders.

Will you get the "True scoop"???? I understand you keep a pretty tight rain on info there! I understand from dropping in from time to time that it is way more controlled than this board! As a island guide I find it helpful, as a board of criticism not so much!

I was going to have a well reasoned response to the perceived problem of rampant crime on Bonaire until this post.

I'm not sure if this post is a serious one or not. I do go to Bonaire Talk to read about restaurants, reviews on places to stay etc, but just try to bring up the subject of crime and talk about a crime that has taken place and your conversation is quickly squashed. In order to talk about being a victim of crime you must have filed a police report. So who is going to file a police report if you have some minor things stolen from a vehicle? Really no one. So you can't even go to Bonaire Talk and say you had something stolen from your vehicle because they will remove it.

Bonaire Talk is a wealth of information about some things but to describe it as being the "true scoop" and "objective" is a good laugh.

What kind of proof do you have that the criminals have not been caught?
If you can't prove it, I'll take Liz's word for it that the Police have caught them.
