This thread is about crime on BONAIRE, not the places you mention. You might want to start a thread on those places to aid divers?

So Bonaire has some petty crime and car break ins

Rumor has it that Diamond Head in Hawaii was named for all the glass from the car break ins. When the sun hits it at a certain angle it looks like a sparkling diamond out at sea.

Again, I can't say this more clearly than I already have, you don't hear this level of crime against rental vehicles and condo break-ins on any other island in the Caribe?

I was referencing your comment about not hearing about this level of crime on other carbean islands, I threw in Hawaii for free.

Bonaire has petty theft, the other islands have dead tourists.

CoolTech:
You have 0 proof to back up your statement that what the people who live on Bonaire "say" the police are doing and what the police are "actually" doing are two different matters entirely.

You have 0 proof of "there has been no resulting crime reduction..."

No, it's serious crime. It's break-ins while people are asleep in their rooms and while they are out diving. Not good.:shocked2:

cool tech, those are words, promises, not actions, as yet. These crimes, a lot more serious than robbing stuff from your rental car, I think we can agree on that?, is an escalation, one that should concern divers.

No, we can't agree on that. These are the same stories we've been hearing for years...

And, now they have the ring in custody facing 8-15 years in prison

Even though it is breaking/Entering and burglary, it is not considered a violent crime even in the United States.

Now, if you want to discuss violent crime... St. Thomas comes to mind (Oh, wait... that's ours)

You see taking stuff like sandals, glasses, towels and sunscreen from a rental car the equivalent to a hotel room break- in, where they still cash, passports, ipods, regs and clothes from a room were people are sleeping?:shocked2:

ya know what, BYE:shakehead:
